Hi Everyone,

I'm thinking about listing some items on etsy.com. I would like to know if anyone has used them and how they feel about the site. The listing prices don't seem bad or the sales fee. Is it worth the time and effort? I know it depends on price, item, etc. but would like to hear some input from people that have used the site. Thanks.

It took me an entire week to read everything about getting started. After I did, I changed my mind... Maybe when I have more time. I don't want to be on my computer all day checking for sales. I know some people have done this and have been very happy with it. I think I will try this again next September, This is when sales will be alot better for Fall items and Christmas items. I think the percentage that they take is very reasonable, I would have alot of items made up and then put them all in at one time.

It depends on what you plan on selling. Do a search on Etsy on similar items and check out the other sellers. You can see the items they have sold, but not the amount they sold for.

Also, it helps if you relist the items every few days to bump it back up to the first page. That will make your listing fees higher but you may sell your goods faster. Let say you're selling quilted table runners.... do a search, see how many there are for sale, and when the last one on the first page was listed. I sell fabric and some days my items are on page two within a few hours and page umpteen within a week if I don't relist. Good pictures are also very helpful. You can put up to five pictures so take pictures from every angle, close ups, and full view.

There is a community section on Etsy. Be sure to use it because it's very helpful when asking for help and advice on how Etsy work.

I did check out the listings for several things but I didn't check to see when they were listed. Some items I thought were too cheap and other too expensive but that's the nature of sales. I don't want to overprice but neither do I want to undersell. I'm just in the planning stages now. Trying to decide on what to sell, price and a catchy user name. I'm leaning toward maybe wall hangings, small quilts, table runners, that sort of thing. I also do floorcloths and I didn't see any of those listed. I may try some of those as mats to go under dog bowls.
