Need a place to sell my Long Arm.
 

I have been thinking of selling my long arm and would like some input on where to sell. Someplace other than eBay or CL.

Longarm University has a machines for sale section but there is a fee. Just curious, it seems you haven't had this machine for very long at all. I seem to recall when you posted getting it only a year or two ago. Why are you considering selling it so soon after getting it?

There is Facebook group for long arms only, called Longarms and Accessories 4 Sale.

I know you said you don't want to sell it on CL, but I bought my Tiara on Kijiji with no muss, no fuss, no bother for either myself or the owner.

Most guilds will let you post things for sale at their meetings or in their newsletter. Let other quilters know that you want to sell and the word will spread.

I purchased my long arm years ago, it has maybe 25 hours on it. The past year and a half I haven't used it. The only time my hands are on it is to clean and lube it every 3 weeks or so then run it about 5 minutes to distribute the oil.

I haven't felt like quilting anything in so long. I just do small projects my Brother home sewer can handle. My brother's illness and death took a lot out of me.

I had on CL for about 2 months only bite I got was asking if it can be used like a regular machine. As for eBay there fees are to high on high end items.

I'm not sure about the rules on this board, but perhaps you can post it on the quilting board?

You can post for sale notices with local quilt guilds and at quilt shops, too. Also, House of Hanson has long arms for sale, not sure if they charge a fee. Google "longarm +sale" and you will see House of Hanson, Longarm University, and others selling longarms. Then you'll have a list to post to. Good luck. The most difficult part of buying and selling a longarm is location. Both parties have to be within a day's drive of each other. And if the table is long, the buyer may have to rent a UHaul truck to get it home. That means they can't come alone because they'll need someone to drive their car back home. Expect to give a new buyer a morning of lessons and help disassemble it. Also advise your buyer to take photos during the disassembly so they can refer to later. If the buyer is unsure if they can get the table into the house, tell them to make a cardboard mock up of the table and see if they can get it around the corners and up the stairs, etc. without bending it. They need to take into account the thickness of the table, too if it has brackets welded underneath it for support. Call the company and see if they can tell you what the machine is worth today, based on it's age. I know Gammill does that. Good luck!
