Need Suggestions for Armchair Covers That Stay in Place
 

Have used the covers that came with the easy chair -- have also made my own but hubby can't keep them in place. I haven't tried the screw in things as I am afraid it would eventually tear the chair fabric. Tried the stick on velcro but it comes off after a bit. Hate to use the iron to fuse it in place -- may want to whip those covers off when company arrives (especially if they are stained from he and the dog!)
Anything else I can try....

Maybe spray basting the back of the covers? Or a piece of the rubbery web thing that you put under a rug to keep it from slipping on a wood floor? Good luck!

I have kept the arm covers on my couch on by using the large floral straight pins in at an angle on the back where no one would put a hand, arm or whatever. Before that, they never came close to staying on for even a day. I don't think that would work with a one piece covering because of the stress of someone moving in it.

you should be able to find some of those little curly things. they have plastic tops with a metal curly thing that twists into your chair upholstery. Hobby Lobby or even JoAnn's

How about the rubbery shelf liner sold in Walmart? You could maybe stitch it under the covers. I know something like it is used to keep rugs in place and I use a piece of it to stop my thread stand from walking across my sewing table.

Mine are made of a heavy fleece and they stick to the chair. I think they came from one of those old people catalogs that come in the mail when you turn 50. Dr Leonards?

For someone that stays in a recliner a lot, I just cover the whole chair with a sheet, doesn't look that great, but at least it can be taken off and washed!

The ones you buy are to short. I made mine to go all the way to the back of a recliner then put ties on it and tie in back. Easy to take off,wash and put back on. My hubby is differently abled now and his place mat wouldn't stay in place so I cut a piece of the rubber shelf liner to go under his place mat and it works like a charm. It didn't work for the chair.

Glad to see this thread. We just purchased a lift chair for my husband. The cover is microfiber and I'm wondering about arm and head covers for that. Not only will use encourage them to fall off but the up and down function will encourage them to fall off, as well. I looked at the vinyl chairs because of practicality but they were slick that I was afraid it would dump him on the floor in a blink. All of these suggestions are being taken into consideration. Appreciate all suggestions.

It looks dorky, but I use microfiber cleaning cloths/towels. They stay on fairly well by themselves.

They really do protect the chair arms from a lot of grime.oo
