Hello all, I just won what I thought was a great deal on quilting software. I got it for a good price, however I think I was taken. I thought I had won the item only to find out that the person I was bidding against backed out at the last minute stating her bid was incorrect. Ok I can understand a one time thing but I looked at her information they give and it seems she has bid with the seller (two other times) before AND has backed out of bids over 11 times in the last 6 months. Here is my dilema am I being overly freaked out that I may have been part of some evil scheme or should I suck it up pay the money and learn my lesson. I have purchased on ebay for 3 years now and have NEVER ever had an issue like this. Thank you for your help in this.

Sounds like shill bidding and that's against ebay's rules.
Shill bidding is when someone (even the seller under another ID keeps bidding up so that a "real person" gets stuck with a high price. I would report it to ebay.

PS. I'm a buyer and seller so I know all the things that go on. Ebay has really cracked down on this bad behavior.

Kind of seems like a scam to me. Tell the seller you want to back out. We got our ebay account hacked and they made two purchase totaling over 3k. And since our paypal was linked to ebay they got the money for the first item and we got it stopped by the second. Anyways long story short, the first seller we ended up talking to on the phone and they had gotten scammed too. The second seller however refused to communicate with us and kept demanding the money and trying to take the money. Lots of ebay scams out there. Sounds like a bid em up and drop them kind of thing. Good Luck

Thank you so much! The person had a 100% rating so I thought I could trust it. I will report this. I had no idea you could do this. Thank You!

Not sure I'd want to buy from them if that nonsense is going on.... Good Luck with your purchase! :)

I encourage you to report this to Ebay. It sounds like a scam to raise the bids. If it is you may not be required to take the item, so could save you some money.j Good luck.

It was a eq5 for 36$ but I agree if this person did not bid I may have gotten it for 20$ so really not sure what to do.

I would report it to ebay, offer to pay 50% of the final bid. This way you aren't backing out of the deal, just asking for a fair price from a bad situation
