Please think of me today...my youngest DD is 27 today and she and her husband are celebrating by....BUNGIE JUMPING!!!! Yow!
They are living in New Zealand while she does post graduate work and seems that area is into extreme sports!

Please pray for her safety...and my sanity!

Thanks.

Piedmont Quilter 01-29-2010 05:29 AM

OH MY!! Get to quilting to take your mind off of it!!! Praying they have a safe jump.

MamaBear61 01-29-2010 05:30 AM

"It's okay Mom, don't worry", every mothers most feared words when coming from the mouth of a child.

They will be fine and probably say something like "you should try it" when they are telling you about their adventure

BKinCO 01-29-2010 05:32 AM

Oh! My! Gosh!!! They're crazy! (and I mean that in the best way :)) Good luck to them with the jump and good luck to YOU making it through the day,

You are right! They probably will....not going to happen! I am afraid of heights!

nursie76 01-29-2010 05:36 AM

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. I knew you all would understand. Well off to work...

tlrnhi 01-29-2010 05:46 AM

Ummm nope! Not bungee jumping.
But, I have jumped out of airplanes! :)

jamh 01-29-2010 07:03 AM

I've bungee jumped about 5 years ago and I loved it! I didnt tell me mom till after i done it!! lol!

But i will keep them in my thoughts!! And hope they have fun!

nativetexan 01-29-2010 08:07 AM

When I'm 89 that is what I will do, but not before!!

beachlady 01-29-2010 08:26 AM

Don't think I could do that! I am sure she will be fine!

Boston1954 01-29-2010 08:27 AM

Kids!! Even when they are grown they still think of ways to turn your hair grey. I will pray that the cord stays intact.

You could not get me to do that even with a gun to my head.

Joan 01-29-2010 08:31 AM

I felt the same way when my son announced he would be climbing Half Dome in Yosemite. He called me when the "ascent" was completed and he was in one piece.

Your son will be fine but I'm sending hugs anyway.

Why don't they realize that these kind of things give us grey hair and upset stomachs?????

amma 01-29-2010 05:10 PM

Oh My!!! Now I know how MY mom felt when I was rock climbing, bike racing and the other crazy things we were all doing as adults... Atleast we didn't tell her until AFTERwards LMBO
Hang in there MOM!!! (((HUGS)))

nursie76 01-29-2010 05:17 PM

Thank you for all your support. I just talked with my DD and DSIL and they survived! and loved it! They chose the option that allowed them to actually dip their heads in the water...good think I didn't know they had that option, I would have been an Uber wreck!
They tell me that now they have gone once, they can go for cheaper for the next 6 months....EEEEEKKKKKK! I thought the making you tear your hair out stopped by the time they are 27!!!!!!

tlrnhi 01-29-2010 05:59 PM

They dunked their heads?
Hmm...I'm thinking that being "down under" now has a different meaning. lol
I don't think that if either of my girls did that, I would want them telling me about it before either.
Glad they had a good time and now you can give your heart a rest. Kids! Can't kill em! lol

Jingle 01-29-2010 06:11 PM

I'm glad they lived through it and you too. I too am afraid of heights and would never do that. I won't even ride in an airplane, want my feet as close to the ground as possible. I see no since in tempting fate.

Yep! Dunked their heads! And how can that not break your crazy neck I asked!!!!!! Kids! ;)

littlehud 01-29-2010 09:08 PM

Well, I'm glad they are OK. I just don't understand the appeal of that, but I'm not 27 either.

Yeah, that's kinda what my hubby says, he wouldn't do it now but probably would have at 27.

lalaland 01-30-2010 11:22 AM

I wish they would tell us about those things AFTER they do them!

nursie76 01-30-2010 12:52 PM

Agreed! That is what she was going to do but her hubby put it on Facebook so she thought she better tell me before I read it there. Lol

AnnaK 01-31-2010 11:55 PM

This reminded me: For my 60th I got a certificate to go on a hot air balloon ride. I decided not to tell my 80 y/o mother because she'll only worry to death. I'll send her pictures afterwards.

Definitely a good plan! Have fun!

barnbum 02-01-2010 09:29 AM

I parachuted when I was in college--my mother told me to NOT tell her the date--just call her afterwards. My father wrote the only letter to me he ever wrote--trying to talk me out of it because I didn't have insurance at the time.

I did get hurt--but just a little.

If my kids do that, I'll duck tape them to a chair!

Now why didn't I think of that?? Oh yea, they are in New Zealand...and I might have been able to wrestle my daughter to the ground to do so, but my DSIL is 6 foot 4....

Me, too. And Karla. Looks like we have a little skydiving group here!

I swear, if I get too close to a bungee zone, I'll just have to jump and I really don't want to!! The thought alone makes me sick.

Do you have pictures of your DD jumping? I'd love to see, even it makes my palms and the soles of my feet sweat to look at them. Ah, to be young again....

Here is the video she posted on youtube. There is a lot of just waiting in the beginning so please forgive that, but let me tell you, it made me sick just waiting for it...even though it was after the fact :hunf:

Hmm--that kind of looks like fun. I dind't realize how much stuff one had to wear to do that.

How about it!? Wonder if all that weight makes you bounce higher? :)

soniboo 02-02-2010 07:27 AM

Looks like she was having fun! I'm glad she's okay and you survived it, too.

Wanna know why I don't want to bungee jump?
....because if I die, everyone will know how much I weigh

Your daughter looks amazingly relaxed as she prepares for this jump.

I don't want to bungee jump because I don't want to go splat!
