Netflix question...
I am very excited because today we subscribed to Netflix. I was hoping to find some quilting shows on it to watch but I don't know how to find them. Do any of you know what I need to do to find some? I hope this isn't a dumb question. |
I searched Netflix and didn't see any quilting or sewing shows. If you have a Smart TV or something like Roku that will allow you to pull up YouTube on your TV, you will find lots of quilting videos.
|
Which reminds me our local PBS hasn't had any SAturday morning quilt/ craft/ sewing shows for couple weeks. Hopefully, only temporary. Started with Nancy and ended with Fons and Porter. I usually just check out You Tube videos.

Eleanor Burns puts all her shows on her Quilt in a Day website for free. You might be able to it on your TV, or at least computer.

The only craft show on Roku is Craft and Create they do card making more then quilting, I did catch a quilting episode.

I have Roku and thought I would be able to find quilt shows too. Will follow this thread in case some one else comes up with something.

There is F&P on my local pbs- some rerun, some new...and QIAD...but reruns, sewing w nancy, and another called quilting arts.....I DVD them, then watch when I can. Actually more on YouTube

I read an article on how to find shows on Netflix. For a long time, I'd log in and I'd only see the shows suggested based on what my kids were watching, or other suggested shows, or I'd search and only find a few of the shows I wanted to watch. Then I learned that you can get to a screen about a show that will show others like it, and from there find lots more. There are tons of categories that for some reason are hard (for me) to find.

Our local PBS here in Maine has Fons and Porter on Saturday mornings at 9:00 am. I just set them to record and enjoy watching them later.

My local PBS station is KVCR which has QIAD, F&P and Sewing with Nancy on Saturday mornings. They do have to about 4 time s a year have to raise the funds to provide for the cost of programming. I have never found any quilting shows on Netflix.

We use Roku and Netflix all the time. It can be intimidating at first with so many selections. What got us really started is that we spent 5 months without cable and all we had was the Roku. If we wanted to watch TV that was it. I absolutely love the British shows, especially the mystery ones. They are so well done. If you like that try Foyle's War, Murder in Paradise, Last Tango in Halifax, Call the Midwife, to name a few.
You can search by genre and once it figures out what you like to watch it will make suggestions for you as well. We rarely watch network TV anymore. |
I haven't found any quilting shows on Netflix either. We also ditched our satellite tv about 6 months ago and am finding I go to the "antenna" tv just to catch the news or watch PBS. At the moment I'm binge watching Bomb Girls which I love. Impatiently awaiting the new season of The 100, Survivors (British SciFi), Call the Midwife, Last Tango in Halifax, Bloodline, Madam Secretary, Longmire, Orange is the New Black, Great British Baking Show and Strange Empire. I told DH recently that I now understand why he likes watching tv. I've always listened to music or just enjoyed the quiet but since we got Netflix I find shows I enjoy and can watch when I need a break.

I have Roku and watch youtube quilt videos on tv. I guess most streaming players would have you tube channel. Netflix is one channel. There are hundreds, maybe thousands, of channels to choose from, some paid some free. You need a streaming device to choose what channel you want to watch.

I've had Netflix for a long time and I've never seen any quilting shows on the service. I don't think there is a big enough audience among Netflix users for the service to even consider offering them.
