New Addiction

I am addicted to words with friends! Got a kindle fire for Christmas and all our family does is PLAY! Seriously cutting in to my sewing time. Hoping the newness will wear off....lol.

Any one else in this boat? What's the highest word you have scored? My DH scored 81 on one word! I am no match...haha.

My addiction remains making quilts. With my huge stash I can't afford to take on any more addictions.

sewmany 12-29-2012 07:05 PM

Lol...too funny. I got an iPad for Christmas and still do the same thing I done with my computer. Have not gotten into the games nor app stores nor am afraid to get addicted to it. But of course been hanging around this forum for over an hour reading up on topics. Lol

I have 6 Words with Friends games going currently with my husband, all four of my kids and my DD's boyfriend. Alternately fun and frustrating, but always highly addicting.

Quiltaddict 12-29-2012 08:51 PM

I love Words with Friends but don't have anyone to play with. Maybe we can play.

Tartan 12-29-2012 09:11 PM

Best word was 101! I have several games going with friends. I had a few going with strangers but if they don't keep current, you end up with deadbeat games. Took me a couple of weeks before they finally resigned. I use my iPad for Words with friends between sewing, QB and Missouri Star QuiltCo. Ap.

Wow, that's an awesome score!!!! My highest word was just over 80.

BellaBoo 12-30-2012 10:01 AM

My DD plays this game. I knew better then to start seeing how much time she spends playing it. LOL

elseebee 12-30-2012 05:05 PM

My DH plays all the time! His highest word was 197! He used to play a lot more than he does now, but apparently many people gave up on playing him because he usually scores between 400-600 a game and has gone as high as 900. All this is why I quilt and DO NOT play games with my DH!

Nanamoms 12-30-2012 05:45 PM

I decided to "teach" my 9yo DGD Scrabble (the real board game) when she spent some time with me last week. No, she informed me, she has never played Scrabble!! Well, hours and games later, she had won all the games!! Then she asked me "is thist like Words with Friends". See I hadn't heard of that on line game yet! Boy, was I snookered!! LOL

I got a new Window Phone 8 just before Christmas and I am hooked on Wordament -- only 1 game and only 3 minutes from start to finish so why am I doing it for hours?? Addiction -- yeah - maybe :)

EllieGirl 12-30-2012 06:24 PM

I like words with friends too! I play with my two daughters and a couple of friends. I'm open to new players!

Me too !! My sis and I both bought tablets so we could play WWF while on the treadmill. (she lives in St Louis) At least it's better than sitting on my butt and I am getting some exercise at the same time. And we always have at least 6 games going - that way we don't have to wait while on treadmill.
We used to take the tablets in our sewing rooms, but holy cow.....couldn't get in any sewing in because as soon as I heard the beep that it was my turn, I'd have to stop. So no more WWF if I want to sew !!

Stitchnripper 12-31-2012 05:46 AM

I love this game. I play on my iPhone and really enjoy it. I have scored over 100 once. Was fun to do that. I also like Hanging with Friends, Scramble with Friends, and Draw Something. All have free versions.

deenatoo 12-31-2012 11:49 AM

I used to play WWF and it got a bit old after a while. I would have up to 20 games going at a time....takes a lot of time to play all of them and keep them up to date. Now the new one I am playing is Dice with Friends...it is a Yatzee like game. Any of them can be addicting. I was stopping every time I heard the dice roll indicating someone had played, but now I just play it for a while and then go to work...play it again in the evening and before bed....it does cut into time getting other stuff done though.

I love thus game too and play with a number if friends. HOWEVER, lately when I click the play the little circle just eels going round a nd round and locks. Such a pain. Has anyone else ad this problem ?? I tried deleting the app and returning it and it lasted about five words then back to it again.

KnitnutBZ 12-31-2012 03:40 PM

The circle keeps spinning

KnitnutBZ 12-31-2012 03:41 PM

sorry, but what is this Word game.....is it like scrabble. Altho, if it something that I have to "play w/friends" no thanks......on my computers I have scrabble and I play w/computer...........occasionally, not addicted........wish there was one for the iPad, but I cannot find one......I have also found that on the iPad, the games that are offered for "free" always stop you at some point and require you to "buy" the "full version", if you choose not to, you just keep playing the little teaser over and over...that is when I delete the whole thing. I really hate when something has a "hook"........... so I stick to me and computer playing Scrabble together.

Yes it is a scrabble game . I ave mine on my I pad, however I have had problems with it lately as I stated in my post above. Keep watching the app you want and sometimes they go on sale

I borrowed my daughters kindle and played for a while-then told her take it home so I will sew more.now with my broken wrist I may ask her to bring it back for a while

Maralyn 01-03-2013 06:34 PM

I play Words on my Kindle and laptop. I love chatting with those I am playing with - classmates from high school (I graduated in 1965); former co-workers; my sister; and daughters of friends. My husband and my son play several times a week doing nothing until the game is finished. I love the ad on tv with the pig on the plane and the stewardess' think he is playing Words.
