My daughter bought my 8 year old grandson a nice set of Starwars Legos for Christmas (expensive I might add). He opened them and set them aside to open other packages. Later in the day, he sat on the floor with his new box of Legos and pulled a picture frame from the box and exclaimed, "What the heck!" He dumped the remaining contents on the floor which included another picture frame and a few Legos. We all stared in shock. What we concluded was someone had bought the Legos, took them out of the box, stuck the picture frames and a few Legos back in the box and returned them to the store to get their money back! Fortunately, Walmart let my grandson return the box with contents and get a new one. We were all thankful some small child had not received this box of Legos from Santa & not understood why there were two picture frames and a couple of Legos in the box instead of what was on the picture of the box. Some people.

It never ceases to amaze me how low-down some people can go. No conscience, no morals, no dignity, no class.

Back when I used to color my hair I found out (the hard way) that some people think it's hilarious to switch the bottles from box to box. I wasn't happy either.

Ramona Byrd 12-28-2010 09:50 AM

Yes, people do that often. I bought a box of stuff to fix my bathroom sink and took the box a "helpful" clerk handed me. Turned out it was missing a lot of stuff that the list on the box said was inside. They took it back and the older man who helped me looked around and then suggested that I get boxes from the back of the shelf, and make sure it hadn't been opened. This was at Home Depot. Never saw that younger helpful clerk again. I have no idea of what was happening...but I will go there again since they are so nice about helping an old lady.

@#$%^& So THAT's why my next to last hair dye job looked so different!! Now I'll always check the insides too. Never thought to do that, never thought it would be necessary. It's sad, can't trust anyone these days.

My daughter received an i-pod from her boyfriend for graduation a few years ago. Came in a sealed box and when she opened it there was no ipod! Just some batteries and cardboard. I went with them to Wal mart. Surveilence camera showed him buying the Ipod from a locked case. rung up at that cash register too. turns out the sales person had used a manager override to avoid entering a serial number that's required. She was given another Ipod, opened right there, and I think someone was fired. thank heavens for camera's and receipts!

Ditter43 12-28-2010 10:33 AM

 I'm glad he was able to exchange it!!

Jim's Gem 12-28-2010 11:10 AM

That is so sad!!!
I'm glad that he was able to get another one.
People are terrible sometimes!!!

amandasgramma 12-28-2010 11:12 AM

Amazing, isn't it. At least your GS was old enough to understand!

belmer 12-28-2010 11:32 AM

Un-believable! I guess they need to beef up the way things are stored and packaged and the poor register clerks are going to have to check everything. I really wonder what kind of diabolical mind thinks of doing stuff like this. I'm so glad your grandson was able to purchase another box of legos.

luvstitches 12-28-2010 11:51 AM

I worked in retail for a large fabric store for 11 years. It's amazing what they allowed to be returned and put back on the shelf. Fabric!!! Sometimes it smelled so bad of cig. smoke too...just hung it in the back to air out and placed back on the shelves.
We should inspect everything before we make our purchase.

craftybear 12-28-2010 02:22 PM

glad he got to return it and we all need to be careful

Hosta 12-28-2010 02:31 PM

that happened at PetSmart we bought flea stuff $49 and when we got home the stuff in the box had been changed with the cheap stuff luckily they let us take it back

OMG I once had my color go very bad and I never once thought this might be the case! Dang!

One of my colleagues got an order from the Scholastic Book Club last week. The box was mangled and taped up with lots of wide packing tape. When she opened it, there was an opened, half eaten box of chocolates inside and about three books (not all the books she'd ordered). Still haven't heard what Scholastic did for her.

It's amazing the things some people will do. I used to work for a large retailer managing customer service. On Black Friday, one year, we had a huge TV sale. A little old lady came up to the service counter, and said that her son was bringing the TV up and she wanted to pay for it. I told her we should wait to make sure he gets one. She pointed to a gentleman walking towards the registers and said, "That's my son." So, I motioned for him to come over to me. I rang up the sale, the lady paid, and we had someone take the TV out to her car.
The man asked, "Where are they going with my TV?"
I told him that his mom had paid for it, and they were helping her out to the car with it.
He said, "I've never seen that woman in my life!"
Luckily, we had one TV left in the backroom. I can't imagine how mad he would have been if we didn't have that last one!

I couldn't believe what you wrote! So glad your grandson was able to get a new box. Unreal!!!!!! :(

sandpat 12-29-2010 07:14 AM

Makes ya' loose faith in the human race...disgusting!

CarrieAnne 12-29-2010 08:25 AM

Yeesh, so glad he got to return it...how sad!

One time when I bought a couple of new bras that came in boxes when I opened one at home it was the grimiest, grungy stinking bra that some PIG had worn for what looked like months and then put in this box in exchange for the new one. I will never again buy one in the box without checking it first, and yes, they did exchange it for me but it was at a store thirtyfive miles from home.

Oh, My Goodness!!!! [First off, I love your "logo" of "RAPTUREREADY"~~seems like I have been ready forever and then a day!] Okay, I have to ask: what color were you going for and what color did you wind up? Just curious!!!

my youngest dd was reading this over my shoulder... her response "it sure would be nice if people could just suck a little less" sad but true....what amazes me the most is that i would never even be able to come up with the ideas some do.

I was born a redhead like both my sons, but after a few years nature decided that I should have brownish hair. So I tried to get some with a reddish look to it. Next to last dye was a loud, brilliant red that shocked me when I looked in the mirror when it dried. I immediately went and got some of the dye remover, I think it was called, very appropriately OOPS or something close to that. I used about half of it and got a more livable color. Since reading your comments, from now on I'll ALWAYS check the inside of the box before buying it.

jacie 12-29-2010 05:55 PM

after unpacking, it is a good idea to check the parts list also, once I had a yard swing mostly put together when I noticed there were only 3 supports to hold the chair part in,,,,,took it all apart and returned it to walmart, and I marked on the box that parts were missing. the clerk at walmarts said she was sorry I had marked it like that, it could have been resold.........not how about that????

Katz13203 12-29-2010 06:39 PM

That's unbelievable - I never thought to look in the box to see if it's the right hair color.

I'm so glad that he wasn't to upset when he opened up the lego box and also that they had more.

I bet I will be checking more carefully when I by things from now on.

fluffyme02 12-29-2010 07:57 PM

The reason I asked: about 10 years ago, for Christmas, I got a new set of pans, or so I thought. After opening, I found someone elses OLD set of pans. The box had been retaped, and I never thought anything about it. Penneys did take them back, but like you, some people have NO conscience, NO morals, NO dignity, NO sense of fairness, and so many other NOs. It's a sad world indeed!!!![quote=Ramona Byrd][quote=fluffyme02]Oh, My Goodness!!!! It's just another reason I love this board! Any time the way some people act starts getting to me, I just come here to have my faith in people and human nature restored. Sure there are always those out there to take unfair advantage, but then for each of them there are more like the generous, loving, helpful, supportive and giving angels we meet daily here on the quilting board.

Light Ash Blonde and ended up with some reddish/coppery color Desert Sunset or something like that. Since my hair had been everything from silver to pink to fire engine red I went ahead with it but Light Ash was my favorite and that was what I wanted.

I guess that's one way of getting a tv without fighting the crowd. hehe

But shame on her! You'd think a little old lady would be more honest...but then, these days, you never know!
