Sew excited!! We are adopting an adorable Westie named Mickey in a couple weeks. His mom had a massive stroke last week and he needs a new home. He's in doggie "boot camp" right now, going through the paces to make sure he's acceptable to be adopted out. Then we will take Tucker to meet him and get a paw of approval and hopefully bring him home. We have always been a 1 dog family so this will be a new experience for us, but most people I have talked to say it's actually easier when there's more than one. I'll keep you posted on our adventures.

I'm excited for you.. Wish I could have two..

I've always had 2 dogs, they run in packs, most need the added companionship. And it's fun having two anyway. Keep us posted on how it works out!

Chicca 11-27-2011 12:23 PM

Adorable! Looking forward to reading about all of your experiences.

hheelleenn 11-27-2011 12:38 PM

I had 3, they're like potato chips, ya can't have just 1

ChrisB 11-27-2011 01:02 PM

It is easier with two. They keep each other company.

skowron5 11-27-2011 01:05 PM

We had 3 at one time. Now we have 2. It takes awhile for them to get used to each other. They are together all the time now.

What a cute dog.

rushdoggie 11-27-2011 01:10 PM

He is very cute. My SIL and her family have a Westie and they love her and are looking for a second too.

Nan C 11-27-2011 01:10 PM

Good luck and hope that Tucker gives the approval. Some times it takes a few days before you will know if they will accept each other, but if they have no problems with other dogs it should work out. God bless you for opening up your heart to this little cutie and you will never be sorry. :)

bjrusty 11-27-2011 02:57 PM

he's so handsome, good luck Barb

jaciqltznok 11-27-2011 03:08 PM

My female shih tzu was 9 years old when I got my 7 year old rescue shih tzu male. She taught him how to climb the stairs, not be afraid of carpeting and tile, not be afraid of doorways, etc. She was like a very good mama to him, and is seldom jealous. Good luck.

valleyquiltermo 11-27-2011 04:39 PM

Such a cutie, I have 2 German rotts and got them together they are from different litters and 10 days apart in age.
They are so jealous of each other it amazes me. They get the same amount of attention but you can't tell it if you try to pet one you have to pet 2, LOL but I lovem.

Maggiesmom 11-27-2011 04:50 PM

I have four and every one has it's own personality. Only one is really jealous but gets very lonesome if by herself.

Glenda m 11-28-2011 07:21 AM

Oh!! What a cute face! Hope every think works out. We have two dogs and what a hoot sometimes.

luvstoquilt 11-28-2011 10:15 AM

What a doll baby...I had 2 Silky Terriers for years...both died in Sept. (they were 16 years old). Angel died on the 6th and 20 days later Katie died of a broken heart. Those "girls" really loved each other. I miss them but now am free to travel more.

Tink's Mom 11-28-2011 10:48 AM

He looks like a good addition to the family...congrats!

quiltsRfun 11-28-2011 10:59 AM

He's adorable. I never thought I'd own two dogs but got another to keep our lonely beagle company. Two are twice the fun.

annthreecats 11-28-2011 11:01 AM

Hope Tucker and Mickey get along and the adoption goes through. I love Westies.

mythreesuns 11-29-2011 04:14 AM

I have been in the world of one dog at a time and right now two at a time. I do love the two at a time. Except for this one issue..I am so worried about. The one that is 5 months younger has lymphoma, so when his time is up, how will the other one act and be?? For 8.5 years they have slept together, kenneled together..everything together. So we are very worried about the one that survives. So I am not so sure I want to have two again. I just am not sure.

Glenda m 11-29-2011 05:22 AM

A few years ago we had two dogs that had been together since she was a years old and he was just a puppy. After some 16 years together, Wuppie passed in the morning and we found Bub that afternoon. I guess he just couldn't be without her. Said we wouldn't get anymore dogs, but we did a rescue and now have Timmy, a spoiled rotten chiwennie and Chewy the rat terror, er, terrier. LOL You know when it's time to find another pet. They just come into your heart.

jeannie t 11-29-2011 06:00 AM

we have 2 dogs just double the fun!!! they are the best of buddies now, the day we brought our cocker home I took our Mickey with and he turned his little butt at her and ignored her, when we got home she cried she wanted the toy Mickey had he continued to play for about 2 more minutes with it then walked up to her and dropped it in front of her I guess he realized she was going to stay, lucy our cocker is always beside Mickey they sleep together like little donuts, enjoy your new furbaby!

We had my first dog for over ten years (LuLu). Then my hubby found Buster (it was love at first sight) After 6 month we were given Tina. Tina & Buster were fast friends. Real brother & sister. Well LuLu died about 2 years later.Neither even noticed at first. One day Buster went over to LuLu's ashes and whined. About 5 years later my hubby was given Toby. I had three again. About 7 years later Tina died (diabetes) and a year later Buster died. Toby is the only dog and I really miss having three. Toby LOVES being the only child Dogs like children are what you put into them and are resilient.

I have 4 dogs. 2 are strays. Annie the Westie is ours because she's an escape artist, Molly the Golden Retriever was someone's throw-away; the former owners lost their house and just left her and her buddy to starve in the backyard.
Molly escaped that fate, her buddy didn't.
Left to right: Choop (little black dog),Molly,Annie and Terra.

COngrats. Give him a bunch of hugs and kisses for me.

Sheila_H 11-29-2011 01:09 PM

Very adorable! I'd be seriously lost and lonely without my dog they are such a joy to a family

The adoption is through Westie Rescue of Indiana. I saw a post about him on facebook and contacted them right away.
