New Format

I'll admit I haven't had the time to play on the new format of this site. I have read that many are unhappy with it and have left the site.
I want to THANK whoever posted about going to the ARCHIVES to read the board. It works so well for me and feels like the old format :)

erstan947 01-03-2012 07:10 AM

That is how I get around too. I felt it was worth my time to learn the new format. So happy I did!:)

grammysharon 01-03-2012 07:34 AM

I want to thank them also!!!

It is still difficult to find different things but I am learning and am glad I stayed.

crafterrn1 01-03-2012 08:44 AM

I only have one problem with the new site. I can't always post my replies. It freezes up and I lose the response. Other than that I like the new site. Luann

Well, I've yet to figure out where the archives are. Anyone care to share?

At the very bottom of the page is the Archive section. I don't use as much now since the colors change when I have read a topic.

Went there and it didn't look very interesting, maybe I need to explore more deeply.
Thanks.

I had my adjustment period but I'm so glad I stayed. Still the wonderful feeling of a quilt guild online. I've yet to post a question that I've not gotten FABULOUS and kind thoughtful responses to. I've yet to see anyone laugh at my silly questions nor anyone else's. I've considered this board my greatest quilting find EVER!!! Glad to see you stayed too.

And now I'm off to the archives to learn more there!!!!

dunngriffith 01-03-2012 09:43 AM

I love the archives!! That is the only way I get around!

Yosamitesa 01-03-2012 09:44 AM

Making it through. Noticed it lagged a lot this last weekend...I guess a lot were on.

That happens to me too. I now copy my reply before trying to send it, as about 50% of the time it doesn't work. But otherwise, the new board is fine - I've almost forgotten it was ever any different!
Now - will this post work?!

fivepaws 01-03-2012 11:00 AM

I hit HOME at the top, then hit the topic, then look for the archives, click that and it will take you right to the topic you want in date order, last is first. It is a wonderful tool. Before I found this out, I was really floundering, never left but searched other sites for awhile. This is still the best. Thanks Patrice.

sandybuttons 01-03-2012 12:21 PM

I use archives have not been able to make the board work any other way

grocifer 01-03-2012 05:32 PM

i just wish it had the envelope feature that we could hover over and see the first few lines of the text before clicking on it. I loved that feature in the main thread lists but archive is definitely easier to use.

Jackie Spencer 01-04-2012 06:03 AM

Love the archives too, like the change in color after you have read it. That way I dont miss anything. Want to learn how to post pictures but not very computer savvy, so have'nt tried to yet.

dixiechunk 01-04-2012 06:29 AM

I'm with you, Jan!

I have that same problem from time to time. Instead of quick reply, I use go advanced. It works better

Evelyn 01-04-2012 02:13 PM

I have learned to use the new format, but even after reading the many postings I still cannot post pictures. It must be true for others too- because there seems to be less pictures now.

luce321 01-04-2012 04:57 PM

At first, I wanted to throw in the towel, but decided that I would give it a chance. I'm so glad that I decided to work at it and so far I am doing o.k. It took a little time, but things are getting easier.

Sandra in Minnesota 01-04-2012 05:03 PM

Love the archives - It is so much like the old way. I was just about ready to give up!!

barny 01-04-2012 05:06 PM

You just have togo all the way to the bottom and there it is.

Caswews 01-05-2012 07:43 AM

Just a little bit of poking around and one can love the new format- its just change and we as humans don't like change very much ! its in our nature !LOL

sdeaaz 01-05-2012 05:36 PM

OK.... so how do you Bookmark, and where are my old ones? that is what I miss most...

Thanks for the tip -will try that.

grocifer 01-06-2012 04:09 AM

Finding the old bookmarks has been most difficult but think I finally have figured it out. Go to the Main Page and click on Blogs (top left), then you will be able to click on My Blogs and I think the old pages will appear. Good Luck. Now I just have to figure out how to categorize all of them and put the recent ones in with the old! Another challenge....

sampson001 01-06-2012 04:17 AM

I still love this board, butI am still having trouble navigating. I have posted problems I am having and I cannot find my post anywhere as well as I do not get any replies. I have also posted a picture and it seemed to have got lost in 'cyber space'. I also cannot now find how to bookmark articles for future reference so if any one can help there I would be grateful.

1) to book mark- at the top of the thread is Thread tools , click on that and hit subscribe, it will ask you how you want to be notified about new replies in a drop down box-

2) to see if topics you have "subscribed" to have new answers click on setting at the top of the page

3) if you start a new topic and want to see if anyone has replied and you have NOT subscribed to your own thread - at the top under profile- look to the left click on latest started topics

4) to find your latest posts to the board- under profile on the left look for latest posts

It took me a few weeks to come back to the site after it changed. I was just not ready to learn something new. but they went back to the same thread way and I quite like it now. I read that many have problems with it freezing up. I have never had that problem. I do have DSL hook up. Maybe that makes the difference because it does take a great deal of memory going in and out of posts.
