I start my new job tomorrow. I am more excited than anything but still a little nervous.

I worked at a place for 16 years - started there almost right out of high school. I spend the last 10 years or so working in our public warehouse. Our biggest customer left just about a year ago. Benifits at our company were slipping, not to mention the 45 minute drive every day. So oppertunity came knocking - and I answered. I am going to work for that customer that left the warehouse :)

I have a huge advantage. I know almost all the people that work there, I know many of their customers from when they had product at our warehouse, and I have some experience with their product. I am super excited.

The only negative is coming from working in a warehouse, I wore work shoes, jeans, and what ever type of shirt I wanted. The new place is Business Casual. So although I know they stress the casual part - no jeans.

Wish me luck! I start tomorrow :)

Congratulations on your new job! :!: !

It sounds like you have a lot of assets already for the company, don't worry about the clothes bit. You'd be surprised how people really dress.

You'll do fine! My prayers are with you!

Just enjoy your new job and be your true self and you'll be fine!

Again, Congratulations and Good Luck!

When I went from casual to business casual, I shopped Goodwill. They actually had a good selection in large sizes (18-22). No one at work knew unless I told them. That way I could use clothing money for shoes and other items that I won't buy used. Congrats on the new job. Now if I could just find one. <sigh>

Me too! I have a tan-black-brown wardrobe for work, and seldom buy anything that I can't use for two of them. It cuts down on laundry and, not being a morning person, makes mornings easier. Sounds like a great job match, doesn't it? Congrats!!!

Congratulations and hope you have a long and happy time with your new company.

Suzanne and Moonpi have some great suggestions. I had a senior management job and have always had to "dress the part"...I love vintage and re-purposed second hand clothes and I promise you, no-one will ever guess they are not "new". I often get compliments regarding my clothes...they would pass out if they new how little they cost!

MN QUILTLADY 06-15-2010 06:52 PM

Congratulations! you will do just fine.

b.zang 06-15-2010 06:59 PM

Congratulations!
Just think of the fun you're going to have shopping for work clothes.

mom-6 06-15-2010 09:07 PM

My best friend's DGD is one of my daughter's best friends, and she does most of her shopping on the sale rack at any store she gets close to! When she was in HS the other kids were sure she got all her clothes from somewhere expensive, but it's just that she knows what looks good on her and never gets the 'cutesie, trendy' stuff so she always looks well dressed. Now that she works at the courthouse (accepts payments at the tax office) she can still wear the clothes she wore at the car dealership and even a few from school.
Sale racks are awesome (but only if they have your size...mine is usually sold out...they don't get many talls especially in larger sizes).
Hope all goes fantastically well with your new job!

kwiltkrazy 06-15-2010 10:18 PM
