DD & her son will be going thru La next mo & will stop in New Orleans. She'd like to spend a night in a French Quarter hotel.
Most N O hotels say "close" to the French Quarter, but she wants to be right there & has looked at the
"Chateau Bourbon"
I'd appreciate any info from ppl who live/know the area.

Look at hotels on Canal Street where it meets the river. On the left side is the French Quarter. The French Quarter is not just Bourbon Street. It includes Jackson Square with the Cathedral and a several block area. It is the area bordered by the river, Canal Street, and Rampart street. Go to google maps and search N O french quarter hotels and a bunch will pop up. Tell them not to miss going to Cafe Du Monde for beignets. It is across the street from Jackson Square on the river side. The French Market is also a neat place. Then if she quilts or just wants to pick you up a little something, LOL, further into town is a LQS called Mes Amis quilt shop. Friendly great customer service. It's at 6505 Spanish Fort Blvd.

We like to stay at the Sheraton on Canal. It's a couple of blocks from Bourbon and the Quarter. We've also stayed in the quarter at the W hotel. We love eto eat at the Bourbon Street House. They have a great menu. As mentioned earlier Cafe du Monde is a real treat. Hope they enjoy their stay.
