As for names for Dobies, we took in rescue Dobies for
over 30 years. And when we got them we could not let them go, so at times had from one to three big fur kids living mostly in the house with us and the kids. First was Kurt, the best dog who ever lived, bar none. He and black, half Siamese Zabo lived together at the vets when we were on vacation. Then huge, perfect show type Hilda, who was very dim witted, but we loved her anyway. She and the cat Warlock were always caged together at the vets when we went on vacation, to the horror of the vet!!! When cats were caged with the wrong friend, they retreated to the back of the cage and firmly showed their displeasure by turning their rears to the amused veterinarian. Then there were Hans, Hidi, Marta, Thor, and darling Gertrude, "Trudy" who was the sweetest darling ever. Our fur kids are now long gone, and all I have are two rescue cats, thrown away as kittens, Koko in CA and Fredrica in Texas during a raging rain storm. |
Dobies are highly intelligent and learn fast but boy they are stubborn.[/quote]
----------------------------------- Yes, they ARE stubborn, but respond, like kids, to the pack leader. With our revolving pack, I let them know right away that I was the master, or else we would have had a bunch of huge, powerful juvenile delinquents. Then when they knew what was and not allowed, they were charming friends and guards for the rest of their lives. Still miss them, especially our dear Kurt, saved from a research lab when he was about 10 months old. The group that got him back (I've always wondered if it had been a night time rescue) gave him to us after checking how we lived and our back yard, etc. |
Ramona what a great story. I'm so glad you rescued Dobies.
And kitties. They all need loving homes. What a great story. You should continue with the dobies. They are such a wonderful companion. I cannot believe anyone would do research on animals. They should be shot in my opion. How heartless can you be. Atleast there are people with big hearts to take them in. Thanks again for the PM about Lili Marlene. We are going to a barbeque later so I'll be posting more pictures later. |
It looks like they are both adjusting just fine! and what a smile, She must have been saying thank you for all the new toys
|
I think she looks like a Lili. She sure is a cutie.

Well I said I would post more pictures later after we went to a barbeque but it was so darn cold here today she didn't get out of my coat. I had to sit so all the kids could pet her in my coat.
I'll get more tomorrow. |
So sorry about your loss of Heidi.
But Lili sure is adorable and will help to heal your pain. As I am sure Tank has helped! I think it is great that Lili is a grand baby to Heidi and Tank and I think your hubby finding that ad was b/c it was meant for you to have one of the puppies. I am definately looking forward to seeing more pictures as time goes on. Glad Tank is warming up to her. Kyia |
