My daughter is a plumber. She said those tubs are a royal pain. She said if you go to drain it and the pipes are clogged you are in trouble. You can't get out of it unless you climb over the top.

Since my last hip replacement, and then throwing it out of location twice within a couple of weeks, I decided that the safest way for me to take the relaxing baths I so love, was to get a walk in tub. It sould be installed by the end of Jan. It is going to be a hard long wait.

Be sure and upgrade the heating in your bathroom. You have to wait until the tub is completely empty before getting out. A wet body and cold bathroom are the pits. Tubs are marvelous, but wait time to exit is sometimes a pain too.

I have one of those tubs, it came with the house when we purchased it. Besides the fact a bath now takes twice as long because of waiting for the tub to fill and drain, it also takes most of the 40 gal. hot water tank to fill with the water. We don't take hot baths just warm but the volume of the tub is huge. My opinion living with it for the last few years is I'd get the shower conversion and a shower chair the tub is a pain in the butt to clean, lets not even talk about the grey seal around the door to get in, yuk. Leave the door open to dry after your bath unless you want a science experiment growing.

Having to sit in the tub while it fills up and drain does not bother me. Before this last hip replacement I would get in the tub and then fill it up and also dry off in tub while it drained. Since this hip replacement likes to jump out of socket, having to step up high into my regular tub is impossible for me. If I ever want to take a "regular" bath or shower my other bathroom is where I would go. I just hope I do not have to wait too long before it is installed. Since I am paying cash the rep. said I would be pushed to the top of the waiting list and top of the to install list. Right now it will be towards the end of Jan, but am waiting for a call from the main company to get a set date. Thank you everyone for telling me the ins and outs of the tub. For me the outs are outweighed.

I'm glad you were able to get one and hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of it. I am a shower person, but I know some people like baths much better. In the seventies we had to find campers with tubs because my mom only took baths, not showers. We also ruled out many homes with master baths with only showers. Enjoy it!

Oh I want one of those too.

I also have wanted one of those tubs. I called for infor and got it but I could never get a price for it from anyone. Please enjoy the tub. I think of having one often because I love a hot bath but it's relly hard to get in & out of the tub for me. Enjoy!

I set up three different appointments with three different companies by way of the enternet. The reps came to my house, took measurements, and gave me prices. All three were about the same so I chose by going with the one that was in the middle and gave a good presentation and answered quiestions fully. It should be put in by the end of this month and I will let everyone know how I like it.
