New TV season

What are your thoughts about the opening episodes of your favorite TV programs?
I've seen the NCIS and Castle episodes. Maybe I'm getting jaded. I was disappointed in both shows.

sandy l 09-24-2015 03:02 AM

NCIS seemed sort of "laid back", almost like Gibbs is getting ready to retire.

regm 09-24-2015 03:38 AM

Most tv series I like start out great for a couple of years and then they get sort of tired. Used to lie Nashville, Big Brother, Dancing with the stars and then it's like, "why am I wasting my time like this?"

ManiacQuilter2 09-24-2015 04:08 AM

I am just patiently waiting for Downton Abbey. Not much on TV do I watch on the basic channels.

Stitchnripper 09-24-2015 04:39 AM

We watched Castle and didn't love it. I'm on some TV comment boards and reactions vary from great to awful. Don't watch NCIS.

nativetexan 09-24-2015 11:26 AM

Aw, if Gibbs retires he needs to take the blond with the black eyebrows with him. I want Zeva back anyway.

If Gibbs retires the show is done.

nwm50 09-25-2015 02:48 AM

Was disappointed in how fast the show went and ended on "under the dome!"

Stitchit123 09-25-2015 03:33 AM

NCIS is my favorite- With Jon Cryer becoming a regular I was wondering about Duckie's role. Every time that Gibbs has a close call and see's his daughter he is a bit subdued but it doesn't last long. I still can't stand Bishop she's too mousy. They could replace her with a 2x4 and you wouldn't notice. I like NCIS New Orleans but the one with Hetty is gotten dull. kind of tired of the G story line so now I watch Castle. I read some where that Beckett is pregnant to expect cameo shots of her. Waiting to see Hawaii 5 0 and Bones new shows. The only other show I watch on regular TV is Big Bang.

sparkys_mom 09-25-2015 04:10 AM

I was rather excited about Heroes Reborn as I really liked the original Heroes series. Granted, I missed the first fifteen minutes of the show last night, but I was having a hard time following it. I'll try again next week but I hope this isn't going to be a bust.

Geri B 09-25-2015 04:41 AM

Watched NCIS....not sure what's wrong there, but it misses the beat.....watched SCANDAL, which I was really engrossed in last year....the background music was loud and annoying!!!!!!!! Why suddenly do all the drama programs have this weird, original music in the background....so distracting......wait, do I hear music while I'm doing this? NOT!

Roberta 09-25-2015 05:11 AM

We're patiently awaiting the return of Better Call Saul. I think that is the best series in ages with characters from Breaking Bad appearing and telling how they got to the Breaking Bad stage of life.

nancyw 09-25-2015 05:11 AM

MY DH thinks Gibbs is planning to retire at the end of this season.

I agree. There was something 'off' about it...can't say what it was.

I do hope Ducky continues as an integral part of the show.....always liked the epis where the storyline centered on him.
David McCallum turned 82 a few days ago...can you believe that!

ro 09-25-2015 05:39 AM

I don't care how many tv channels ya have, there's still nothing to watch on tv. I'd like to know what happened to all the quilting shows. i.e. fons & porter, Eleanor burns?

I too, wish Zeva would come back but I don't think there's any chance of that. I just can't get a feel for Bishop, she just doesn't seem to fit, at least for me. NCIS New Orleans is okay but it is my least favorite of the 3 series. I really like NCIS Los Angeles & I love Heddy. I too am getting tired of the story line for callen. Maybe these writers are running out of ideas. Must be difficult to come up with exciting eipsodes each & every week. I do LOVE Scandal though & have been hooked from the very beginning.

JanieH 09-25-2015 07:48 AM

I watched NCIS and loved it. Gibbs had just been through quite and ordeal - getting shot point blank by a boy he thought he was saving. And Gibbs loves children so much. Going through the trauma of the surgery and the therapy for his knee, all this combined should have an effect on him. I think that as the season progresses we will see Gibbs returning more to his "Boss" ways but with a tempering, allowing him to show more depth and emotions.

And I like Bishop - it would have been almost impossible to cast another Ziva or Kate type. I think the producers were wise to go against character and cast someone totally different. And I have noticed that she is getting feistier than when she first came on board. Remember when she rebelled against the score Gibbs gave her on a testing situation? She just wants to be her own person.

I also watched Heroes Return. I did not watch the original and so can't compare it but I found the pilot to be very long and drawn out. Maybe the future shows will move faster - I know the pilot had to set up the different characters and factions so will stay with it for several more episodes to see how it progresses.

I have Blindspot on my dvr. Haven't watched it yet but hope to get to it this weekend.

I'm with you. Not much humor anymore without Zeva.

My husband and I both thought the first episode of NCIS had a bit to be desired. Of course everyone knew Gibbs would survive, but the opener kind of stunk. We both also agree about that blond, whatever her name is, her acting, certainly didn't get any better as time went on, did it? We were REALLY hoping that she'd be gone this year, but no such luck!!! She and the woman on NCIS New Orleans just don't fit in. Neither one of them could act their way out of a paper bag.

I keep wondering if Gibbs' "team" will discover at some point that Bishop's husband is a secret spy, like the storyline in Blacklist (think that is the name of the show w/James Spader). Surely her character will bring something more interesting to the show.

Sew Freak 09-26-2015 03:44 AM

don't like Bishop and I can't stand Jon Cryer!

sandybeach 09-26-2015 08:56 AM

Did not like Heroes at all. Jumped all over the place and I don't like subtitles. NCIS was boring. Curious to see how Limitless continues. Lost interest in NCIS - Los Angeles a long time ago. Would like to see CSI - Cyber again. Agree that Castle was ODD. We still don't really know what happened to Castle when he was gone for those months, and now Becket is acting odd.

I watched that last night. At the beginning, I was overwhelmed with the technology...too much movement on the screen.
I continued to watch and really got into the show as it progressede. Will watch another epi to see how it goes.

I agree!!

linkd 09-26-2015 01:59 PM

I actually thought Jon Cryer brought something new to the story and the potential interplay. What makes it odd is that I don't like Jon Cryer (or maybe just the characters he has played). My husband thinks that they need to add the Coast Guard Investigative services and base it in San Francisco Bay Area. I think the traffic is bad enough here allready

Now that you mention it, I think that's why I feel negative about him....I think it's the characters that he has played that make me feel that way.

wendiq 09-26-2015 03:19 PM

I am finding that most of the TV shows keep me interested for several seasons and then they just get old....the writers seem to no longer have new ideas. Not sure how this could be changed.....but yes, I am sick and tired of most of the old story lines and when the original cast gets changed, it changes the whole personality of the show.....NCIS in point!! And if Gibbs retires, then the show will need to be retired! IMHO!!!!!

alagal 09-27-2015 07:03 AM

I agree about the quilting shows - at least you don't have music that's so loud you can't hear what they're saying!

Dancing with the stars just keeps getting weirder. But I have tried to watch so far.

There are a couple of shows I watch in syndication, over and over. And I keep enjoying them. I like to watch Bones in syndication for example. But would forget to watch the new Bones? I think this might be their last year so I hope I am better about watching.

quiltingcandy 09-27-2015 02:14 PM

I was rather disappointed with NCIS, Bishop is okay - Zeva is not coming back because the actress doesn't want to come back. She has recently said she might be open to a visit but does not want to return full time. I am a big Duckie fan, but would understand at 82 he is reducing his role in the show. Last time I say Mark Harmon on the David Letterman show, he said he will continue as long as the fans want him. I agree with the others, if Mark Harmon leaves, the show will be over.

"Castle" is another favorite of mine and I did see the lady that plays Beckett did not want to return but finally agreed, so they are working in his daughter to have a larger role. Not sure how this will work out, but will keep watching for a while longer.

I am looking forward to the next installment of "Sherlock" from the BBC.

I was disappointed that "Battle Creek" was not renewed for a second season - I just love to watch the Josh Duhamel in anything. But it had an interesting plot and was getting more involved with each episode. Oh well.

We watch "Bones" too. They did the last show of the season as if it would not be renewed - so my guess this will more than likely be the last season. Sometimes it is better to go out before the fans stop watching. I loved the show "Frasier" but thought the last 2 seasons were a waste of time.

kathdavis 09-27-2015 07:21 PM

I think I liked Blood and Oil tonight and Quantico. It is sort of early, but they were both interesting tonight.

Maggie_Sue 09-28-2015 06:38 PM

Watching the past two episodes of Castle!! Wow back to shows like I watched at the beginning of the show. What do you think???

Iraxy 10-01-2015 10:22 AM

I am a Big Bang Theory fan and it did not disappoint. Loved it!

Geri B 10-01-2015 01:54 PM

I agree blood &boil and quantify do look promising.....I watched something called life in pieces ---I think that was its title----who picks these sitcoms? Wow was all I can say........I still like Last Man Standing.....
