Not birthdays!
Yearly, on that special day, I celebrate the anniversary of my 21st birthday!
|
When I turned 30, I started counting back down to 21, then started back up to 30 again. Kept at it until mid 40s and then couldn't figure it out in my head anymore! I confused the heck out of my daughters. We laugh about it now that they're in their 50s.

I celebrate my 60 yrs. To me, age is only a state of mind!

Now, at 73, age doesn't bother me at all. For some reason I still haven't figured out, 30 really bothered me.
|
Growing old is a privilege. My mom only made it to 56, so every year I'm here, I celebrate!

My dad told me when I hit 40 that I could start backward and enjoy my 30's on down (you know the family rasing age)
Now I have started over and am only 4. Learning all kind of things in this "new age." |

gramajo - I totally agree with you. Hitting 30 bothered me but at 71 am glad to have been blessed with another year. My Mom passed away at 65 so each year now to me is a blessing.

I am 62 and proud of it. I could not have written 208 poems, or sewn 91 quilts in less time.

I totally agree about a certain birthday year bothering me; for me it was 45. Why, I don't know. At 80, I feel blessed to still be here.

Turning 50 bothered me....don't know why but it did. I am turning 53 this year and have gotten over the '50' thing. I don't mind my whitening hair, the lines, am now a Granny and enjoying that. Celebrating my birthday has never been important to me, but I want to remain active in body and mind. Grateful for everyday my eyes open and my feet hit the floor.

When I turned '25" a teenager turned to me and said, "You're a "quarter of a century". I cringed. At 50, I was informed I was "1/2 a century" by current hubby and my boys. I told them I was going to smack them! At 60 no one said a thing. I just dared them but at almost 62 DH informed me it was time to check out Social Security, he just came to realize how close he was to making me a widow. THEN at 64 3/4 years of age when he mentioned Medicare, I reminded him of the 380 Ruger he bought me and the Smith and Wesson and the Govenor; also very near and dear to my heart. I informed him if he said one more word about 'my birthday and age" I would let everyone in his office know of his birthday. He hates birthday celebrations in the office, especially his, which has not happened yet. Just one more time is all it's going to take. I know how old I am and I feel fine but when it's brought to my attention like I am one really old senior, it just sets me off on a negative. His time is coming!!

*** I am thankful for every one of my years. *** *** I will hit the BIG 70 this year. *** *** As long as I wake up on this side of the dirt I am OK. *** |
I have lied so much about my age, my own kids did not know my age. My daughter had to call me for my birth date to make me a beneficiary on her insurance. I aged VERY slowly... I was 30 for many years, then finally creeped up to 41 years old. Now that my children started added the years up, I have told them that I was a very promiscuous 2 year old. People believe that my DH and I are young.....those 20 year old twins have helped with staying young and with the gray hairs on my head!

My Grandmother always told me on my "older" birthdays, that you are only a day older than you were the day before.
|
My grandfather always told us to "count your birthdays until you are forty two, then start counting backwards until you reach 21 again, so you can retire at 21 while you still know everything!" Lol!
|
I just try to forget the day and make it a normal productive quilting day.
|
Me too. I am looking forward to celebrating my 51st anniversary come June.
|
I'm 80 and most people think I'm in my 60s. The thing about getting older is... inside I still feel the same as when I was 40. My body 'feels' older but my 'inside me' doesn't. My 30th birthday bothered me too. I kept thinking "I won't be 20 anything anymore".
|
I am almost 61 years old. I am what I am. I enjoy life and celebrate the birthdays without worrying about the number. Getting older is a gift denied to many to I don't complain.
|
my mom always lied about her age, when she was quite ill she finally asked how old she was. When I told her 86 she was shocked! Said to me, How the hell did I get that Old? I just figure age is a number so I don't care much. I'm 66 and going strong
