Interesting.....curious-you said strips used in a Christmas Eve service last year.......may I ask how? You did a good job of joining those strips into a great backdrop.
The minister asked me to select fabric and cut into strips to be used in a wall hanging for our newly amalgamated church. The Christmas Eve service was about blessings and involved the congregation selecting a particular strip and holding it throughout the service - the idea being to imprint the fabrics with their blessings throughout the year. The fabric strips were collected with the offering - offering our blessings see?
I was given the strips and after thinking on it decided to do something by sewing the strips together into tubes then turning. Everything was various lengths. I had some blue satin left from another wall-hanging I'd made the church and added those strips as well. I played with the lengths of tube and the blue satins started to mass in one spot. I started weaving them together selectively adding in more satins. After getting it sort of settled I left it for a day or so and looked at it again and "saw" the Christmas Star so appliqued on the town of Bethlehem. Off to the ride I "see" sheep on the hills and the angels above.
I'm not sure what anyone else sees in it but the more I see it the more I see in it.
All of it was sewn onto a heavy muslin backing with the top and bottom fastened into loops for hanging.
