After my Thanksgiving weekend I am filing for a divorce from my scale. Things are not good on the scale. I ate everything. I am now back on the wagon.

irishrose 11-25-2012 03:25 PM

I like Cindy's picture of setting the scale back ten pounds.

I have been out shoveling snow for the first time, which is actually late. It's a wet, heavy snow so hopefully I burned a few calories. The white/red dog, a Siberian mix loves and the little black Border Collie mix doesn't notice.

Now I can think about Christmas shopping. Some of us Northerners need snow to Christmas shop. I hope the Black Friday shoppers left a few things though I know Home Depot is out of a lantern I wanted for my son. My list is a page and half long on a legal pad because these 'guys' just keep getting married and having children.

I ate too much on Thanksgiving, but no thirds. - Oh, oh, the apple dessert after I came home. Well, almost no thirds. Apples, cinnamon, sour cream, butter. What's not to like. My weight is where is started this month. Can I lose two pounds in the next few days?

I'm putting the binding on a Spicy Spiral. I think I will sew this one by hand. The other machine has an apron still on it and there is a mystery quilt waiting in the wings. I am NOT doing any Christmas sewing, but I do have a baby quilt to start - the shower is in January. Will horizontal zigzags be okay with only using six colors and repeating them? I hope so. I'm having trouble with gender neutral when I think she's having a girl. My brain is thinking pink.

I am losing weight and getting healthier.

sewNso 11-25-2012 06:06 PM

hope everyone is back on track. i am. and hope everyone had a nice thanksgiving. everything good is out of my house now. sent a lot home with a daughter. and hubby ate the rest. got a lot of sewing done today. made pillow cases out of flat sheets that were still good. after the bottom sheets were long gone. that's what i like about the basement. i go down and sew, and just stay there. don't even take anything to drink. if i get thirsty, i have to climb the stairs to get it. extra calories get burned that way, i figure. about a week left before weigh in. be good, and make this week count.

irishrose 11-25-2012 07:12 PM

Maybe that's my problem - my primary piecing machine is 8 feet from the fridge. I sew in the family room and my sewing room is for storage. The family room is next to the kitchen.

Anastasia 11-25-2012 09:33 PM

I survived Thanksgiving without gaining.. but I did join a gym again now that I'm working again and I am signing up for a 5k that happens new years day. I do 5k's all the time for various causes but I hadn't done one in awhile, and unlike the ones for causes, this one's cause is myself. This one I'm going to try to jog at least 1 mile straight. I used to jog 5 miles a day a long time ago.

Vanogay 11-26-2012 09:01 AM

Watch them knees and ankles Ana - all that shock on them after you haven't been running can be stressful. Just take it easy.

Anastasia 11-26-2012 08:31 PM

Hehe I'm going to be going to the gym after work every day, not going to just show up jan 1 and jog.. I'd die after a block I think.. haha..

Maybe. hang in there. xoxo

ana, 5K's. that's wonderful. you must be young. i have a daughter who does 5 K's all the time. just for the fun.

Anastasia 11-27-2012 11:29 AM

hehe I'm 32. I usually do them for like.. Alzheimers, AIDS, Breast cancer (not the susan b koemen, I could never raise that much money), Humane society.. different causes I like to help. I don't raise much because I don't like approaching people but i bring them something and i get the exercise and a t-shirt :D But this one is solely a commitment to the participants own health. Best cause of all right...

meanmom 11-27-2012 03:31 PM

Anastasia, I will have to look in to the Commitment 5K. I see they are doing it in Cincinnati area. That is where I live. I do a few 5K's a year for various causes. I help coach Girls on the Run every year at school. I don't run, I walk the whole way. My goal was to finish faster than last year which was 43 minutes. I didn't do it this year. Partly because I am out of shape and partly because my walking partner this year was slower. I have bad knees and my doctor advises against running.
My eating is back on track the last 2 days. MY Dh finished all of the cookies and chips so I didn't have to eat them. I made stir fry for dinner and my DH actually liked it. He usually complains there isn't enough meat in it. It was really good. I am hoping there will be enough for lunch tomorrow. We are still getting spinach out of the garden and I am getting tired of it.

tracibug 11-27-2012 03:56 PM

Phew... I signed up this month and then couldn't find the thread to check in or participate until just now...

On a lame note, my month has not gone so well, haven't gone up, but haven't gone down. May be next month.

Sadly my problem is not overeating, it is undereating. I don't eat enough to support my weight so my body stores all that I ingest. My husband had a stroke several years ago and I have adjusted my activity level to meet his which has also not helped my cause.

Anywho, just thought I'd check in. I hope all are fairing well, health-wise and moving towards better days. 20 lbs is a great goal but even 5 will make you glow on the inside!

Ana- Would you like a 5k buddy on Jan. 1?

Vanogay 11-27-2012 04:01 PM

Holy Tuesday Batman, I forgot the Taboo Tuesday. It's late but here it is - S.A.S.S. Got it? Oh, you want to know what it means? It stands for Slimming and Satiating Seasonings - extras like herbs, spices and vinegar that provide flavor with little more sodium or sugar. They also boost caloric burn and keep you feeling satisfied!

carolaug 11-29-2012 01:55 AM

I am the same. I use to do the 5k's all the time...always in the back pf the pack but its fun...I just donate my self since I can't stand people asking me for money I am not going to do that to others. I just started back running on the tread mill, 3 days now...half hour run and half hour walk...it really is making me feel better more energy dduring the day...I have gain way to much in the 4months that I have stopped excerising. I have a treadmill at home in my sewing room. Well worth the money...it folds up and it has a bounce so it does not hurt your knees and if your knees are hurting it most likely is you sneakers. I use to have swollen knees and almost gave up running...went to a sneaker store and they recommended a different type of sneaker with a lip on the inside...what a difference. Good luck everyone...I will watch your progress. I never, ever get on a scale...its to much stress for me. I just watch how my pants fit.

Wow where has this month gone, I can't believe it is time to post the new link for December. I will be posting it tonight when I get home from work. I am about to run out the door, lots of traffic accidents this morning so no telling how long it will take me to get to work.

Keep up your good work.

I am losing and feeling better with my choices.

Pam H 11-29-2012 08:31 AM

Cindy, it's great to hear you say "get to work". I hope you are enjoying your new job!

irishrose 11-29-2012 09:57 AM

Good day, all. Still hanging in here. My weight hasn't changed this month - well, that's not true - it went after Thanksgiving, but it's back to where I started this month. I wonder who will be getting the blue FQs?

On the road today. A GS is on the basketball team and his mother doesn't like to drive. We are going early enough to hit a few stores so I'm off to get the dogs out for a walk.

I made a good beef soup yesterday. I used sweet potatoes instead of white ones. I've never used sweets with beef, just chicken and pork, but it is very good.

createfourpaws 11-30-2012 05:07 AM

Good Morning Ladies........got home late last night after work, with a bad sinus head ache so went straight to bed. Doing much better today. I have posted the new thread for December.

Dont forget to PM me your loss for the month so I can call a winner. I am down 4 lbs for the month.

Jim's Gem 11-30-2012 10:11 AM

Weighed in today, only 2 lb loss. Oh well. At least it's not a gain
I am leaving shortly to drive down to my parents house. Tomorrow I accompany them (they cannot travel alone any more) to Cape Coral Florida to visit my mother's brother. We will be gone a week. Mom tells me that her brother only eats meat and potatoes, no veggies. Guess I will be buying and cooking a lot of my own food (or for me and mom)
Anyway this week will be a very real challenge. The eating will be tough but being with my parents (dad has dementia) for a week is going to kill me!! Any time I spend more than a couple days around my mom we start getting on each other's nerves!! It would be really easy for me to just eat the stress away, however my mother likes to be my food police (and police of anything else I do) so I would never hear the end of it if I ate "inappropriately" in her presence.
She does not understand my love of quilting and wanting to go to quilt shops so I may not even get that escape. Though I am hoping that I can borrow my uncle's car and get a way for a little while to find a shop and caress some fabric.

meanmom 11-30-2012 03:52 PM

I really wanted the blue FQ this month. I guess they aren't mine. I was up at one point but I am now down 3 pounds. Things would be going better in the weight department if I would exercise. It sounds like it has been a stressful month for a lot of people. Exercise is a good stress buster.
The teacher has been a little bit better towards me. The kids have been awful. I blame a lot of it on the teachers handling of the kids. They and the teacher were crazy today. I was so stressed out. As I was walking a student to her bus at 10:30 I almost felt like I was going to cry. ( not like me) I was just so over stressed and over stimulated from the classroom. While we were trying to do morning group the teacher had our wild child ( almost like an animal) and was using a Karoke machine and yelling in to it like the kid and kept saying hi over and over and over trying to get him to say it. It was way too loud. The kids yelled shut up to her. It was crazy. Other kids were acting up too. So glad it is Friday.
