Took the truck in this morning for oil change and whatever needed to be done at 36,000 miles. Turns out it is time for new spark plugs, cabin filter (whatever that is) some other filters, and new tires. My DDIL is taking me this evening to pick it up; after they squeeze $1200 out of me. No more fabric for a while. Just paid off the credit card from the dog, now this. Thanks, I feel better; just had to vent!

I feel your pain but just look at what all these ladies do with no money! It's inspiring!

Oh, I know. I am so lucky that my husband left me with some investments. I would really be in bad shape without them. But this year I have had to dip into it too much. At least now the truck should be good for another 36,000 miles. I knew the tires were coming, but was hoping to wait till spring.

What kind of truck do you have that needs that much work at 36K miles? Oh my...

I hear you!. I am on a no-fabric till bills are paid kick too. My car needs some work, just had the timing belt, water pump replaced. Someone backed into my rear door, off to the auto body shop for repair. Fortunately they had insurance and I paid nothing. Now gas is up to over $3.00 around here, and after being unemployed for 2 years, my job is 35 minutes away instead of 10. It's all highway, but still. My friends are talking about taking a trip to Marden's in Maine (discount store with lots of good quality quilt fabrics). I know it's cabin fever, but could I really go and just look? Not sure. Why couldn't I have won the MegaMillions Lotto?? LOL

I have a 2005 Toyota Tacoma. My son, who is a mechanic was just warning me before Christmas that it was about time for all that stuff. The tires were 40,000 mile tires, but since it is winter, he suggested I get them now. Everything that was done was scheduled maintenance for that mileage. Figured I was there, might as well get it done now as to schedule it for another day and another trip in to town. Now it is good for another 40,000 miles. Maybe by then my checkbook will have recovered. :-(

Oh Grann, it always seem to hit us when it's the worst time. I had to put new tires on my truck in November. 6 tires = $950. Man that hurt.

Can you really go and just look? Wow, that's a hard one. How about taking only a certain amount of cash with you and sticking only to that??

Glad to hear you found another job! Two years is a LONG time!!! Maybe a little celebration is in order? :)
