do any of you remember wearing the nylons with the seams down the back I have always wondered how you kept the seam straight all day if you did a lot of bending and siting and such
I used to just go into the ladies room, unhook them and readjust. I thought I looked hotter wearing the ones with seams although I also bought the seamless ones too.
I really enjoyed wearing stockings although they were never long enough on me (I was almost 5' 9 1/2" back then). |
Yes, I remember them. and often checking to see if they were still straight! and garter belts! Funny, now garter belts are sold for sexy looks....... I never thought they were sexy back then, just not always comfortable.
I STILL wear them on occasion. I haven't worn "panty hose" in over 20 years. The newer versions are much better. they have spandex inthem, They stay up alot easier & without a garter belt.
Plus they come in TALLS.. I too had problems with stocking being too short.... My legs are too long!... |
I remember them well. I hated wearing them. Now, with slacks, I never have to wear stockings :-)
I wore them because there were no seamless ones back in the dark ages. Seamless came out when I was 13 or so.
I remember my mom saying that sometimes during WWII the girls didn't have silk stockings, so they drew the black seams on their legs with eye makeup.
Yep I am the costumer for the HS Drama program and we drew teh seam down the back with eyebrow pencil.
Boy, do I remember them. And do you remember the first Playtex girdles that were like rubber with a fuzzy lining? Try wearing one of those in 100 deg. + weather and WITHOUT airconditioning (1954). Aghhhhhh. I seldom wear hose/dresses anymore. Jeans for work and church.
