Count me in Nancia. I blew it last month, but this month will be better. DH & I are getting back strict with Cycle 1 of 17day diet tomorrow. My own personal goal is to be at my 'doctor's requested weight' by Christmas. I need to lose 20# in 3 months.

I make my own choices. They will be good choices - the ones that move me closer to my goal.

I'm in for October. I definitely need the motivation. I will be visiting my mom for 3 weeks, (10/22-11/12). I have warned her about baking all kinds of goodies. We are going on a quilting retreat for about 4 days. It will be in the mountains in NH. So, i won't have a whole lot of control over what is being served, but i will have control over what goes in my mouth... BTW, I am new to this group.

Murphy1 09-30-2011 07:03 AM

I started dieting in early September. I am in. I will try to get the myfitnesspal on my comment string. Yea it worked. Now to bookmark this string.

purplemem 09-30-2011 07:19 AM

Leann,
Thanks for making our list while FourPaws (Cindy) is away. It always helps to know who is participating.

conniebrooks 09-30-2011 07:22 AM

Cindy you have my thoughts and prayers. I had lung cancer (stage 1) 15 yrs ago and had my upper lobo removed. You have my thoughts and you will come thru this just fine. Will be thinking about you. Please write to let us know how you are doing when you are up and able.
Prayers to you
Connie in Ohio

Beachbound 09-30-2011 07:26 AM

I'm cutting a FQ today for our winner, lol; I even thought about cutting one for next month's too just to remember to do it. I ended up with a 3 1/2 lb loss...not great but we had a couple of crazy weeks with the bathroom reno so I am not going to beat myself up. Next month I will make the 5 pound challenge!

Quick thought for today~ No matter where you are in your journey, there is always someone who wishes that they were already where you are now. Unless of course you are that chick from Dr Oz! ;-)

purplemem 09-30-2011 07:36 AM

ATTENTION ALL PARTICIPANTS:

I WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE THE "RULES" BUT THIS IS A GROUP DECISION...

I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE IT A REQUIREMENT THAT "TO WIN THE FQ YOU MUST LOG INTO THE THREAD AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK AND PARTICIPATE IN THE DISCUSSION".

WHAT IS YOUR OPINION?

I would like your discussion on this issue, either in PM or on the thread.

MJ

I think that is a great idea.

reisingranch 09-30-2011 08:10 AM

Count me in. I like the idea of having to sign in each week and participate.

Unfortunately I'm not allergic to any food item. I do HATE raisins so maybe I should put those in everything!

mim 09-30-2011 08:18 AM

I think that's a good idea -- BUT -- I know I will be out of touch for a week in Oct. and how about people in hospital, etc.

Mim

or is it only that you can't win if you don't sign in ??

to answer your questions:
1) I would think if you post you will be out for a designated time it would be allowed but that is up to the group and
2) this requirement is JUST FOR WINNING THE FQ.

I love our group but we don't have the benefit of full participation. We need the experience, strength and participation of at least 1/2 the members to really get our momentum going. When only 10-15% participate that leaves us with a limping cheerleading, idea busting section.

mim 09-30-2011 08:34 AM

Absolutely -- if you want to win, you should participate -- play to win.!! I'll be happy just to be in the 5 pound club

Mim -- Thanks for clarifying --

It makes sense to me that all of us who sign up should participate. Especially with the holidays around the corner, we all need as much cheerleading as we can get. LOL

I am okay with this. I would mention that some don't actually feel comfortable chatting because they don't get response when they do chat. Soooo if you see someone post it may help to chat back; just sayin'.

jarenie 09-30-2011 10:11 AM

I am in.

Murphy1 09-30-2011 10:11 AM

Anytime I see a post, I check it out. I think active participation does help with achieving a goal with the good spirit of the group. I am in it along with the other weight watcher group for the good of the whole.

katvert 09-30-2011 10:58 AM

I am in for October!!!

the participation rule seems like a good idea to me.

nancia 09-30-2011 11:00 AM

welcome grammasheshe! we love new and old (that's why they keep me around-i'm the old, lol}.

nancia 09-30-2011 11:21 AM

i have to apologise to anyone i haven't said hi to or commented on. i read beachbound's comment and it hit home. as one of the really talkative people on this thread i try to be a 'meeter/greeter' and include everyone and i am well aware, to my chagrin, that i sometimes don't read back far enough, or i get caught up in getting my idea out there that i forge ahead and leave others feeling unnoticed. beachbound--thanks for saying something! none of us mean to exclude anybody! we all need all the support we can get.
purplemem-- i like your idea very much! believe it or not, sometimes even i want to be quiet once in awhile! for real!

glassnquilts 09-30-2011 11:23 AM

This month was a bust. I will try again in October.

Sheila_H 09-30-2011 11:38 AM

I'm good with the new rules, I don't think I could do it just on my own, I'd need some gentle nudging and maybe the occasional push lol

Anytime. Judy would have done it, too. Where is she, btw?
And Missy?

I agree MJ. We need more involvement from our winners.

I would like to participate in the challenge. I have just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and have to lose weight.

Pam H 09-30-2011 04:26 PM

I was already under the impression that you had to reply every week. I might have been silent otherwise!

irishrose 09-30-2011 05:08 PM

We're greedy. We want to hear from each other every day. I'm not fond of the word 'rule' and who's going to monitor it? I do think it needs to be a strong recommendation.

I haven't posted much the last 48 hours because I've had the flu or food poisoning, but it's so minor compared to what some are going through I didn't want to mention it. It's getting better. I have to well enough tomorrow to make my son's birthday cake and go on a road trip Sunday to go to his surprise party.

I'm in, of course. I lost five pounds last month for the first time in a long time. Even if you subtract two because the insect bite reaction pounds, I still lost 3 and that's good for me. Actually it was more today, but it'll be back as soon as I can eat.

Xylie, you need to get some acidophilus if you're taking antibiotics. Replenish the good bacteria the antibiotic kills along with the bad ones. You remind me I need to call a dentist. I think I have a cavity, wah, wah, wah.

I am losing weight and getting healthier. I truly am on both counts and I appreciate the encouragement I've received here.

purplemem 09-30-2011 05:21 PM

Irish,
I don't like "rules" either. I just feel frustrated.
Maybe being "stuck" in the house and "stuck" on weight loss is making me gripey and grumpy.

We need each participant to get good ideas and keep motivated.

I am praying earnestly for Cindy.
Stomach bugs are no fun, I have enough weird stomach issues from my meds that I can empathize.

For all of our newbies, we are happy to have you. You will be more successful if you participate fully in the forum and the tools that are suggested. The more people that join, the more likely we are to have great losses.

mim 09-30-2011 05:45 PM

I take a cranberry pill every day because several weeks ago I had an outbreak of yeast. I did the usual medications and cranberry juice - which I hate. but the cranberry pills seem to do the trick

Gelswood 09-30-2011 06:25 PM

Sign me up. Good luck to all.

jlwheart 09-30-2011 08:14 PM

I'm in and excited to get extra motivation for Oct. - Just saw change to have each participant check in weekly. I like that - it will help me get over my shyness as I'm new to participating. I was a lurker for a long time. My day's not complete unless I check this out what's going on here. I was diagnosed with diabetes Oct 2010 and have lost 67# this last year. Right now I'm stuck and not losing like I was. So this is a wonderful opportunity to get more support and maybe get some fabric if I am lucky enough to win.
