I just bought one for Hubs today at Bed,Bath & Beyond. It has a little lip at the bottom, and a little light up at the top of the board. Squishy bottom that sits on your lap and a hard top surface where the computer sits. It's a Santa gift, so I don't know how well it works yet, but it looks like it'll be good. Only 19.99 and I used a $5.00 coupon on top of that.

They actually make cooling stands for laptops! Hubby noticed mine getting hot, he is a major techy, said this is not good, will burn the motor up before it's time. So, next time out, we went to Best Buy, & bought one! Well worth the money too, & don't buy the cheapest one! I am on my second one now, as the first one he bought started getting noisy after a bit, so we went back & bought a better one the second time around. Love this one, much nicer! So check them out & see! Your laptop will be much happier!
If it's getting hot, not sure you would want to have any fabric under it either. When I need something under mine, on my lap, I use a lap board, wood or hard plastic types, like they sell in the bookstores work good! So, do be careful! |
Sorry, my message is trying to post twice here for some reason!

I have a Targus laptop desk. It puts the laptop on an angle and it able to get good air flow. I have had it for 5 years and I even take it to class with me. Here's what it looks like and you can get it at amazon, sears, staples, etc

I have a pattern for one. It's a purchased pattern. I can tell you more details if you're interested. I'd be happy to find it and tell you more, but if you aren't, I won't bother. The one I have is a cat, but there's also a dog. PM me if you want more info.

I read this week that men using laptops in their laps is one reason why their sperm count is a problem--kills the little swimmers.
