My eye exam showed I needed them as I suspected when my eyes blurred up in a sewing class this past Monday. What a mess. I"m bobbing my head like chicken pecking it's food. But I can see so much better to sew and I can see the needle eye. :D :D :D :D :D

gaigai 06-13-2009 01:50 PM

Bella, you'll get used to them in a flash! Did you get the no-line progressives? That made it much easier for me.

quilter1962 06-13-2009 01:54 PM

Yeah

See I told you that needle had an eye LOL

Bella I know exactly what you mean when I first got my glasses for distant almost 14yrs ago now - whilst I was out walking it felt as if the ground was a foot higher than it actually was. I must have looked like a mad women on a mission lifting my legs higher than I normally had done as the pathment appeared closer than it actually was.
On a more positive note though I still have the same prescription for the weakest lense 14yrs on - not bad huh.

Enjoy your sewing

Tisha :D :D :D :D :D

I got no line, transitions lens, titanium frames with no frame on the bottom of the lenses. Titanium frames are featherweight and almost industructible. I gave up heavy metal or plastic frames long ago. The glasses are fine, it's me that's the problem. :?

Ninnie 06-13-2009 01:58 PM

hang in there, it takes a few days, soon you'll be used to them , count to 10 and it'll be alright. I threatened to take a hammer to mine when I first got them.

redquilter 06-13-2009 02:00 PM

I too have the no-line progressive and got used to them right away. You will too.

Mplsgirl 06-13-2009 02:42 PM

Let's hear it for no line, progressive lenses. The other ones made me sick to my stomach and I couldn't walk down stairs.

Shemjo 06-13-2009 04:14 PM

Amen on the no line progressive lens! I also have the photo gray so I don't have to use Sunglasses when I go outside! So much better for driving also!

BellaBoo 06-13-2009 04:48 PM

I was not given the choice of lines. Why would anyone want the lines? The only problem I have now is using the computer. It's hard to get the screen in the right spot.

amma 06-13-2009 04:57 PM

Welcome to the "bobbing" club!!   Ahhh to be able to see again... You will get used to them after a week or so...isn't it great to be able to thread a needle on the fiirst attempt??? 8) 8) 8)

sewjoyce 06-13-2009 05:29 PM

You will soon get used to them -- honest! Just relax and don't try so hard. (I have trifocals with no lines and I love them!)

swimmom 06-13-2009 05:37 PM

Took me a while also - almost was motion sick - after a month I was fine.

littlehud 06-13-2009 05:53 PM

It took me awhile to get used to mine, but now they are great. Just stick with it.

MadQuilter 06-13-2009 07:41 PM

Your brain will adjust in a few days. If it doesn't get them rechecked.

tlrnhi 06-13-2009 07:44 PM

Like the others said...it'll take a few days to get used to them.
I tried the titanium frames. Couldn't do it. Felt like nothing was there and felt weird...yea, I know, I don't like wearing my glasses, one reason I have contacts too. I wear my contacts out in town because I don't like people seeing me in my glasses. lol

Silly girl. But I do the same thing. Wear my contacts when I'm out and about.

tlrnhi 06-13-2009 08:06 PM

It's just a "vanity" thing.

Mplsgirl 06-13-2009 08:07 PM

Me too. At 64, it's time to get over that for me, I think. Old habits die hard.

I had to get bifocals when I hit 41...everything went haywire...
I got the no line ones and had no problems with them at all.
Now I would like to go back to contacts...
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I don't even know what they do for bifocal wearers in regards to contacts.
anyhelp would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kirsten

gcathie 06-13-2009 10:09 PM

I've been wearing bifocals since 35...no lines...they told me to point my nose.....That worked for me but still have a hard time going down steps.....hang in there...it will get better

quiltsRfun 06-13-2009 10:28 PM

I had more problems getting used to the no line lenses so I've stuck with the others for a number of years. Might have to give the no lines another try. BTW, I'm into the tri-focal club now. Many adjustments as we age but if it keeps us quilting I'm all for it.

You'd have to talk to your eye doc about the contacts. They do have a multifocal for bifocal people....just need to ask you eye doc.

Talk to your eye dr. My contacts are such that one lens is for distance and the other is for close up. Your brain pulls them together and makes the adjustments. My vision isn't as great with them as it is with glasses, but close enough.

tlrnhi 06-14-2009 03:34 AM

They now have this multi focal bi focal lens. It's been advertised on tv quite a lot. I have to make another eye appt and when I do, I'm going to ask about those.

BellaBoo 06-14-2009 01:14 PM

The no line progression eases the transition into the bifocal area. Bifocals have improved in the last few years so give them a new try. I have noticed that looking right to left with my eyes and not moving my head makes objects out of proportion. Now a dental check up this week. Wonder what that will bring? Always something. :?

ditto! only take them off to go to bed, and always put them on bedside table. My doctors office, takes you to pick out frames, while your eyes are dilated...no prices. Mine were 400.00! that's a lot here. Will be wearing these, when the cows come home. :D
