Always buy that stuff at Sams and haven't seen a huge price increase on things there yet. I've started a pantry in my basement and am stocking up on stuff like this. DH likes it every day and me once in a while on celery!

Where I live no one carries the brand I like so I bought dry roasted peanuts at Wal Mart and made my own! Tastes good.

I can do without pb but my son lives on the stuff. As a child, he was a picky eater and it has continued into adulthood. There are a very short list of foods that he likes....pb, bananas, ww bread, fresh milk, potatoes and carrots are his mainstays.

I LOVE PB! about an inch thick on a sandwich with some jam....mmmmm! On pancakes...on crackers...on celery. Always have a few jars stocked in my pantry...LOL!
I buy it when it goes on sale

That's bad!. I had to quit keeping it in the house because I dipped into the jar with a spoon 10 times a day-bad for my behind!

I will stock up when it comes on sale..if it does? I like PBJ and I like to do peanut butter cookies too. Cookies use quite a bit because I always make a big batch. I like smooth for my sandwiches but smooth or crunchy for cookies.

Mmmm, pb and banana sandwich on whole wheat bread sounds really good. Haven't had a banana sandwich in years.

Funny aside. When my son Tim was young the boy next door, Matthew, was at our house all of the time, in fact some people thought he was Tim's twin. Problem was that Matthew never liked what I made for lunch, so I asked him what he liked. It was pb and jelly - not jam with lumps and baloney with mustard. So one day I made him one of those sandwiches, to my surprise it still wasn't a sandwhich he liked - he liked both of them put together. Told the kid I couldn't stomach making it so from now on he could bring his own sandwich. Family had funny food tastes. When it was one of the kid's birthday they got to choose the family dinner, one of them only wanted swiss cheese sandwichs with nothing on them and that's what everyone eat for dinner, no exceptions. Ugh, really dry and some people think pb is dry,

So what you are saying is chunk or shredded cheese (not types like velveeta or cheese whiz--which are not cheese, but processed foods with some cheese/dairy products in them) that cost you $5 a pound last month now costs $7.50 a pound.
FYI recently dairy economists are predicting milk prices to go down $2.50-$3.00 per hundred weight between now and mid 2012. It takes on average 10 # of milk to make a # of cheese. All things considered that means that by the end of the year that original $5 block of cheese should decrease $.25-.30 a pound.

What's happened to the price of soda? At least PB and cheese feed our bodies with valuable protein, vitamins and minerals. Shop the perimeter of the grocery store to buy your food. We dairy farmers (as in the case of all farmers) live in a volatile market, and living within that market presents challenges.

Recent USDA statistics state that in 2010 Americans spent 9.4% of their incomes on food; in 1952 that figure was 20.8. 1930--24.2%.
