Oil of Oregano

I think I mentioned this oil when I was doing some house work and my hip was hurting. I put some of this oil on it and the pain was gone and it still continues to work for me when I have any little ache from knitting or etc.

Here is something new I discovered. My little dog Teddy, has been plagued with yeast infections on his skin and his feet and he would break out in sores and his mouth would get red and his ears would be all yeast. He would be able to hold out with care until March of each year, as I would use the special shampoo and anti-biotics from the vet.

The vet said that he was alergic to whatever blooms and I get the sneezing too. Anyway, he was breaking out in these sores again this month. I decided to bath him and then take a few drops of the oil and delute it in warm water and just pour it over him. In three days I repeated it as they look better. I did it another time and today when I bath him, I found no sores at all and his skin looked so clean.

A small little bottle of this stuff cost 26.00 at the Herb shop but it is so worth it for him not to take the Anti-biotics and not to mention 125.00 for the trip to the vet.

I did a major research on this product from the herbalists reports. The FDA says that a blind study had not been done on this and that there is no proof that it works. Well, I say try it like I did and it does work and it doesn't harm you.

If you are inclined to try it, do buy it from a reputable source, preferable an Herb company. Read about it. It should be mixed with Virgin Olive oil and have the highest percent of the extract for the oregano.

Nature's Sunshine is a good source to buy it from.

Can you take a bath in it. Then my whole body could feel good again. I must look for this at my local Herb Store. Thank you so much for sharing.

That is really interesting! Thanks for posting. I'm going to have to do some research on it.

I use alot of different essential oils ; they help different ailments. When my knees were going bad from arthritis , i would layer on :peppermint, wintergreen, oregano, marjoram, lavendar. People around me were looking for a pizza. I used these for 5 years before I had knee replacement surgery. Do some research , you will be surprised.

There are a whole host of essential oils that beneficial to your health. One of my favorities is a proprietary blend called Thieves. I has clove and cinnanon oil, both have anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. My dh has an auto immune disease called Myesthenia Gravis and he uses this oil in a nebulizer with saline water to help fight off colds and flu. It works good.

I swear by this stuff!! If you get that little scratchy feeling in your throat that usually means a cold is coming on, just put one drop on the back of your tongue - if there's any nasty germs there it will burn like crazy!! Do that a couple times a day and you'll never get the cold. Oil of oregano is a natural anti-viral and anti-bacterial and it'll kill anything!! My kids laugh cause my answer to any ailment is to use it - they say if they broke their leg I'd tell them to use oil of oregano!! LOL It'll cure any infection from a cut. People may laugh at this but it works!! Try it.

I live in the Middle East, and this is a known remedy for intestinal problems, also. The Turks say it tastes so horrible that it scares the bug out of you!

liondenise 12-31-2011 11:14 AM

I put a couple drops on a cotton ball and put it on my furnace filter and it kills germs in the air - only one problem you'll be loolin for something to eat when you smell it

we take it in a softgel form..good for fighting yeast problems. I have poked a hole in the softgel and used it on rashes.

I will try it; I have a lot of problems with my back and some times with my knees and arms. There are so many things out there that they won't so studies on because of the industry; too many people would lose money if people knew the truth or an alternative treetment. In Feb-2008, I was hospitalized for another round of being in pain all over where you couldn't even touch me; again the could find nothing just shoot me up with pain killers and send me home. Two weeks later when I finally was able to return to work I had an email about aspartame poisening. I researched it and was convinced that I had it; I'm not an easy sell, I loved the sodas. I stopped all aspartame and to this day I've had no more rushes to the hospital with pain so bad no one could even touch me. My sister stopped and her headaches went away. They won't do official studies but the proof is out there. I'm living proof, as to what this stuff will do to you. Oh yeah, I also am now off of thyroid medicine after being on it for over 10yrs. It didn't help my sister's thyroid but it did mine. We have a herb store that I go to and I'll stop there on Monday to try this; thank you.

Oh Wow! I can't believe all the imput, how wonderful. Let me tell you, Aspartane and sweet and low and all the sugar substitues out there, will cause you some damage or the other and so will hydrogenated margarine and decaffinated coffee and fat free will also do damage. Just do without sugar or use brown sugar ...dont' believe all the hipe on these poisens. Imagine what they have to do with chemicals to get rid of fat, sugar etc.....eat the proper stuff in moderation and get off the medicine merry go round.

Sodas will kill you before cancer or any other desease. Do the research.

There is no easy way, just like all the new diets that keep popping up....not only do you gain it all back but you gain more on top...these diets only mess the chemestry up in your body. To loose weight, one has to change their eating habit forever!!! there is a lot of good wholesome food to enjoy. Make up your mind which you want the best. To live longer and be able to do things or eat the junk and be an invalid.

My Dr. suggested this oil about five years ago for my hair and skin. I ingest it though. I put five or six drops in a spoonful of tea and swallow it fast. I do this everyday. It's too potent to take by it's self. The smell is too strong to keep it on my skin. It will make me sick to smell it after a few minutes. It has changed my skin, my feet seldom get dry and flaky anymore and my aches and pains seem to never get worse. North American Wild oil of Oregano is the the most potent.

ladybalcom 01-01-2012 06:14 PM

Thank all of you for the great advice on the oil. I must try it.

morelcabin 01-01-2012 07:11 PM

Oil of oregano is a staple in our medicine cabinet here. We use it for colds and flus, cold sores dry up and go away in a day if you dab a drop on a few times during the day. Great for any fungus or yeast.

Do you have a recipe for this? Is it made from a particular species of oregano plant? very interested in how this is done .....

Lisanne 01-03-2012 09:20 PM

Thank you for the info. I've never heard of this, and I think it might help some of my problems. Knowing of your experience with it gives me enough faith in it to try it. I'll read up on it and find some.

A friend told me about using oil of oregano. oil of Thyme & some other oil & it would kill MRSA (staph). I need to get in touch with her & find out for sure what it all is. I hate taking antibotics.
