why do i keep getting old threads that I have seeen before that say they are new today

I was wandering the same thing.

Its not new threads anymore, its threads with new posts so I'm just checking the date under the title.

You can also go to the forum (Main, Pictures, etc.) and scroll down to near the bottom of the page. There is an option there for thread display options. You can select "Thread Start Time" instead of "Last Post Time" and then the newest threads will be displayed in order of start time. Don't forget to select "Show Threads" over to the right of the selection to actually make the change.

Unfortunately this setting seems to get lost when you leave that forum, so you have to keep resetting it.
