I'm so glad this was put here, where we could all learn, "before" hand, of potential situations and solutions. I think I will suggest the 'code words' to my kids, to use with my grandchildren. That is an awesome idea. :D

I have heard that if you lean over the back of a chair with the top just under your ribs and thrust forward it would also dislodge your blockage. Thank God you're ok.

Same here Joanne! I'm happy to be here to say that!!

I was terrified just reading this. Choking is one of my worst fears, especially in regard to my children.
Like the others said, make sure to learn how to do the self heimlich, with a chair or your own fist...and do it as quickly as possible! Apparently, you only have, I think, 60 seconds or less before you pass out from lack of oxygen. Big brave hugs to your son and you! |
I'm so glad you are okay!!! If that ever happens again you can also do the Heimlich by throwing yourself over the back of a chair.

How terrifying! But your little guy was awesome--he knew just what to do! I'll bet you're so proud of him!

Wow, I'm so glad you are OK and he was there. What a hero he is. Kept his wits about him and helped. Great kid.

You keep that up and we'll have to ban you from the sewing room. First the finger, now the throat..... Glad you're OK.

Glad you are ok.
