Never know what to expect do we?
Someone quipped that Texas should be officially diagnosed as having bipolar weather!

Mdegenhart 02-17-2014 06:56 PM

Felt like it went straight from the teens to almost eighty. I've gotten so used to the chilly house (which I love at bedtime) that I felt too warm to sleep last night. I'm in Dallas.

Ladibug 02-17-2014 07:06 PM

Alabama is the same way. It will be 80 degrees here this week, warm enough to make everything bud out then we will go back to the deep freeze. When spring gets here we will have one week of nice weather then we will go straight to the 90's and it will be so muggy you can't breath. I think I can't take being a little chilly rather than it being so hot and humid I can't be outside. The weather is so crazy anymore. :)

sushi 02-17-2014 08:59 PM

80 degrees? That's crazy!

Here in Minnesota, we cheer when the temp gets into the 20's in February. But like y'all, our weather is increasingly unpredictable. Last year we went from snow to 70 degree temps overnight. Of course, it was May :-)

gale 02-17-2014 11:18 PM

80 degrees seems like such a distant memory. lol. We have about 2 feet of snow sitting in our yard and I'm definitely ready for summer and the 80 degree temps. I'm super stoked that we might get close to 40 this week! Unbelievable.

Purpleprint 02-17-2014 11:53 PM

All it seems to do here is rain !

117becca 02-18-2014 01:59 AM

yesterday morning i was excited to see 2 digit morning temps - and this morning it is 37!!!! Now the snow will continue to melt - Yeah!! End of the week looking at 57 and lows mid 30s all week. Oh - and rain Th-Sun.....but I'll be able to see the grass - muddy grass, but grass!

carolaug 02-18-2014 02:09 AM

Above freezing would be nice...

Jingle 02-18-2014 05:26 AM

We are getting a respite but, weather man said winter is still not done with us. Warmer this week, probably back down to single digits. It is still winter and I don't have a problem with that, just hate the wide swing of temps.

Joset 02-18-2014 05:29 AM

here yesterday we had 34 above and we were out side in our t shirts thought it was a heat wave lol

Jackie Spencer 02-18-2014 06:11 AM

I have'nt even seen a Robin yet!! I am so ready for Spring. We have snow and ice on the ground here, the temp right now is in the 30's, and the Weather Channel just predicted a possibility of Tornado's for Thurs.!!!

Abby'smom 02-18-2014 06:22 AM

:) yeah, us too -- there will probably be another cold snap and then our version of spring -- and then by sometime in May, it will be the hot days of summer -- bipolar weather, I like that description

donnalynett 02-18-2014 10:01 AM

We are getting hit with back to back wind storms and heavy "much needed" rain. Flooding everywhere and trees down. Expecting 70mph winds this evening here in Coos Bay, Oregon.

Jan in VA 02-18-2014 11:56 AM

61 here today and still have about 3 inches of snow on the ground in many spots.

momto5 02-18-2014 07:00 PM

Afraid I can top all y'all...2 snowstorms in two weeks AND 2 earthquakes! Come on, Spring!

DebbieJJ 02-19-2014 01:54 AM

Yeah, last week we had 9 degree weather (or lower) with snow, and yesterday it was 76 deg. here in north Alabama, and the sun felt so wonderful!

Got to 51° yesterday here and still at least 10" on top of this ridge. UGH, is there no end in sight? I haven't been anywhere in so long, I feel like a hermit. Oh, for a tank! I would be outta here.

MaryAnnMc 02-19-2014 06:59 AM

The other morning when I got up it was around 46º and the house was mighty cold. I wanted to turn on the heat, but I knew it was going to be in the mid-80's by afternoon, and then I'd want the a/c on! Yes, Florida is a bi-polar state, too.

The Robins are still down here in N. Florida, they should be heading your way in the next couple of weeks.

Snooze2978 02-19-2014 08:37 AM

Well up here in Iowa we received almost 60 degrees yesterday only to be informed to expect a blizzard later this week. I remember last year we had a freak snow storm in May but the year before we had a heat wave in April only to get a sneak cold freeze enough to kill the newly formed buds on the trees and plants. Nothing like keeping up in suspense on what to expect when we wake up each morning.

I'm 60 miles north of you and nearly turned on the ceiling fan last night, but the wind is so brisk this a.m. that it is too cool to be comfortable this a.m. froggyintexas

Same here in north Georgia...the past few weeks we've had more than our share of ice and snow but today it's in the 70s...love it!

Rose_P 02-19-2014 06:24 PM

Everybody keeps talking about the weather and nobody's doing anything about it! :D

It's been 80-ish several days in a row here, and the low tonight is predicted to be 64. That's like a summer night where I grew up in Kansas. But we had what's called a "bad winter". Had to cover the tropical plants in our yard several times. If you don't live in a climate like this (zone 8), you may be surprised to know that putting a thin old bed sheet over a tender plant will help a lot to keep the frost off it when the temperatures go only a little below freezing for a few hours. I was skeptical about that when we first moved here, but it definitely helps. We'll be getting some more 40-ish nights before winter is over, but another freeze is officially unlikely after Valentine's Day.
