These places have security cameras. They are also trying to get more businesses involved by utilizing parking lot safe and secure areas. It's about having the cameras strategically placed. Most important the city is really involved to help thwart the criminals.

After a couple was killed who met a Craiglist seller, my local area police department offered their parking lot. They do not supervise, BUT it is the police department parking lot.

Several local police/sheriff departments here offer their parking lots also. There are cameras, and anyone not willing to meet in a police department lot, and be on camera just might be up to no good!
