I am feeling some kind of way today... I ordered a bunch of stuff from a LQS that is going out of business online. I got the first order with no problems. I even chatted with the owner several times and expressed sympathy for the store closing and the reasons that led up it. I then placed another order on the 1st of June. The check cleared on the 12th of June (I am deployed so mail can take forever.) I got back to work on the 1st of July and no package. I emailed the store on the 16th of July thinking an oversight or something may have delayed my package and I get no response. I wrote again on the 27th and again no response. I even went to the postmaster where I am and was told that there were no delays in the mail since the end of May. I have not been able to contact this person and they have quite a bit of my money. I have this awful feeling in the pit of my stomach that the money and the shop is gone and there is nothing I can do about it. I am hoping and praying that the person would do the right thing and return my money or send me my merchandise. This is the first time that I have ever paid with a check and not Paypal for quilt related items. I didn't use Paypal at the time because the site was blocked (government computers) and it would be some time before I would have been able to load my acct with the required funds because I was leaving the country on vacation. I will never do it again by check. The moral of this story is to be very careful when dealing with online going out of business sales when paying by check. Funny thing is I'm mad at myself for being so trusting in this day and age and in this economy.

Sorry you had this experience and thank you for the tip.

I'm sorry this happened to you. I hope she comes through for you and you get your merchandise or your check!
I assume you are in the military so I want to say a big THANK-YOU for your service!

I do hope they come though for you it is not a nice feeling when that happens

Good luck!! Its sad when we blame ourselves for doing the right thing. It wasn't your fault. Hopefully your package is just lost in the mail. I hope that everything works out for you.

I am sorry this has happened to you...and I sure hope that you still get your purchase...that it is taking a side trip or something, but will show up.

I'm sorry to hear this. I never know whether to be mad or sad. It's such a shame that people do things like this. Just keep in mind, these people are the exception. Most people are honest and above board.

Maybe a member on the forum lives near the shop & could drive by it at least? If you look at the User listing, search by the area, I know if it were near me I would be happy to do this for you.

Thanks for all the help, encouragement and advice. I don't want to get anyone on the board to go anywhere because I don't know what the situation is. The shop is online so it may be a person's house or garage or something like that they are running their business out of. I'm going to attempt to get in touch one more time to be extremely fair and I may report them to the BBB or some other agency but really my hands are tied and at the end of the day I may just have to sum it up as a lose. I'm concerned with many of the quilt shops going out of business that sometimes we may let our guard down when we see a good deal. I pretty much made it up in my mind to let it go but I just don't want this to happen to anyone else on this board. Please be careful and try to pay with a credit card or Paypal because then you can dispute and get your money back.

start with contacting the better business bureau in the area of the shop= next step---go to your bank- there is a form you can fill out---and get your money back! last time i had to do that it cost me $10---well worth it if you are out quite a bit more= there are very strict rules(laws) about this type of thing- your bank can track down-and get your money back-you just need to fill out the proper forms and get the ball in motion---the sooner the better.
