Ordering clothes online - FB adds

When you are on FB, do you see adds for purchasing clothes online? I do order clothes online, so I am probably targed for these adds.

I see some absolutely gorgeous items, but I know they are cheaply made (ask me how I know). I'm just wondering where I can get such beautiful clothes of good quality.

Any ideas for me?

Have you tried Zulily? I have bought some nice things through them and they've actually arrived fairly quickly. I ordered some t shirts last year through a FB ad, and they took at least six months to arrive. When they arrived, not one of them fit me although I ordered an XL. Even my tiny sister (size XS) didn't fit in them! Learned my lesson!

I do order clothing online, but never from the pop-up ads. I only purchase from shops/stores that I know such as J.Jill, Land's End, and LL Bean and Christopher and Banks. I always, always shop the bargains but I can depend on the quality and delivery is generally less than a week. Never tried Zulilly. I am hoping to do some "in-store" shopping this summer as we begin to crawl forward toward normalcy.

(I was gifted a clothing item for Christmas from Vermont County Store and it was/is excellent quality.)

I would never buy something from an unknown company on a FB ad. Tons of scammers out there, FB does not care.

There is a way to check out how long a website has been around, Google "Domain Age Tool." Some of these companies are brand new and are just there to take your money.

Now if it is a company you have heard of, make sure it is the real thing and buy with confidence.

Never buy anything from pop up ads on FB. They make fake websites and use fake address and usually no phone number. You may never get your items. I have ordered from Zuilily, some of the clothes are ok, some of the not so much. They don't actually stock all their items so there is a long wait for some things. Also, not everything is refundable if you don't like it. So real everything carefully.

I get those ads constantly. I never order from them. DH orders Hawaiian shirts with few successful orders. They are often too small or smaller than indicated. Made overseas for smaller people

I have ordered clothing online, but only after going to the specific store online. JCPenney, Catherines, K&G etc. I have extensive ad blockers, so I rarely ever see pop-up ads, but I would never order based off an ad. I'm just too leery and un-trusting of the unknown!

I order for Woman Within frequently it came up as a pop up one day and I was interested. I only ordered a single item the first time and since then have spent several hundreds of dollars there. they cater to larger sized women.

I never order anything using the FB link. I go to the store website.

Not being able to try on clothes during these crazy times is as bad as it gets for me. I have donated a lot of new clothes because they were too big. They were the size I normally wear. No way would I buy any more clothes until I can try them on.

I don't order from those pop-up adds after being disappointed once. I was just wondering where you can get such pretty clothes from a reputable company. Also, I need to order petite sizes when I can.

zennia 04-11-2021 07:31 AM

I agree they look so pretty online but are poorly made when received. I got burned once but hopefully never again. There must be some American stores that we can find these same pretty sales. I have bought clothes from Amazon that were well made but not as pretty as the ones advertised on Facebook.

Bealls of Florida has a nice online site.

sewingsuz 04-11-2021 11:15 PM

I order from women within and Lands End and Pennys. don't buy from the pop up adds. They could be a scam.

Learned the hard way about ordering clothes from a pop up on Pinterest. The short story is it was a company based in England ( I guess) and the clothes shipped from China. Well made but the fabric was nothing as advertised and the colors not as pictured at all. Over 15 emails and frustrating dealing with " carefully obtuse" customer service I had to get credit card co. to get my money back . Cost me $30 to return their fraudulent clothes to China. This ordeal took 4 mos. and a lot of angst on my part. NEVER again.

I order all my clothes from UllaPopken.com. In the last 5 years, I have never been disappointed. Their clothes range from 12/14-34/36. Very well made, quality fabric, and acurate fit. They are located in Germany, but arrive (in Iowa) in good time.

I have been pleased with Serengeti for clothes.

Annaquilts 04-13-2021 05:37 AM

I buy LuLaRoe clothes from ebay. Most is new with tags and some used. If I get something in that is not as how it was described I return it to sender. If there is an issue contact ebay.

Growing up, Mother ordered lots of clothes from Penney’s, Sears & Wards catalogs. Even shoes came in the mail.

SueZQ from MN 04-16-2021 09:41 PM

I order directly from Alfred Dunner. I used to buy their line in retail stores but sometimes had trouble finding all the matching pieces in my size. Now when I order direct, I don't have that problem, they have plenty of inventory. They also have great sales, and fast shipping. We also order t shirts that last forever from Crazy Shirts, which is based in Hawaii.

ptquilts 04-17-2021 05:01 AM

Remember, on FB, they don't care if you get scammed - the advertisers, real or not, are Facebook's customers. You, the FB user, are not a customer, you are the product - your attention and clicks.

I just wrote about Facebook scam on the personal diaries tonight.

Thanks so much for that recommendation. Just received my first order from Serengeti, a couple of tops, and they both actually fit and look nice! I've been having such a hard time finding clothes that fit and shopping is kind of torture for me at the best of times. So happy to have this resource. Thanks for sharing the info!

I usually don't order clothing online as I am a "tough" fit 2X top and 14-16 petite bottom. When I find a brand or garment I like (Vanderbilt "Amanda" jeans size 16P or 16 short for example), I will search for them online. I have had excellent luck on Poshmark. Most clothing on that site is "gently used" and I think about Poshmark as an online thrift shop. Worth checking the site out if you know exactly what brand and size you want. Many vendors on Poshmark do not offer refunds or allow returns. JMHO

(Vanderbilt "Amanda" jeans size 16P or 16 short for example),

For the last two years, Costco has offered these jeans (in a bunch of sizes) on their Thanksgiving Day online sale for NINE dollars each delivered to your house. I love the fit and the price. I think they are around fifty dollars at Kohls regularly.

If I had to walk around naked I wouldn't buy from LuluLaRoe. I'm a moderator on another board, and they robo-spammed us with hundreds of posts. It took two of us hours to stem the flood. We had to lock all open threads to stop it.

All you have to do is look at the posts on CL where disgusted MLM'ers are getting rid of their Lularoe inventory at bargain prices cause they are sick of the whole deal! I agree, I won't support any MLM. They are predatory and cause people to lose money.
