Other forums?

...just wondering if there were any other quilting forums that you might know/visit that are as interesting as this one...not Facebook, Twitter Instagram or any other specialty places like that..I don't belong to any of them...oh, and I dislike yahoo groups......some days this forum has little going on, and some days, so do I, and would like to see what else is going on. I really don't visit blogs on a regular basis..one or two that I check with occasionally, most others are just me-myself and I places....I will scroll thru Pinterest once in awhile too, but there too, if something looks like I'm might want to pursue, and I click..it ends up being "a brick wall".....no additional info or follow up......thanks for letting me ramble.

You might like the Missouri Star Quilt Co. firum.

I know you excluded Facebook, but you might want to reconsider. The sewing group and the sewing/quilting enthusiasts group each have way over 25000 members, resulting in a lot of questions/answers/photos. Rarely a down time on these groups.

I also enjoy Pinterest, it's like a maze sometimes when you follow the photos to where they have been pinned. You end up seeing a lot of other boards that you might be interested in. I enjoy Pinterest and visit regularly.

QuiltingHaven.com

Quiltingaroundtheworld.com

Connecting Threads also has a forum.

Tartan 06-18-2016 11:55 AM

Forum.missouriquiltco. and quite a few of our machine experts have gone to victorianswearshopforum.

Agree with this..

MFord 06-18-2016 06:27 PM

Tartan, it's Victoriansweatshopforum, not swearshop! It's mostly about the vintage machines, although we have quilting threads as well. And I still come here!

Tartan 06-18-2016 07:08 PM

I should have checked up on spell check I see. Sorry Victorian SWEAT shop forum!

cookiemonster 06-18-2016 08:43 PM

Missouri, connecting threads, fat quarter shop, quilt in a day, and a small one Delphi forums very small

DOTTYMO 06-18-2016 10:46 PM

Oh no I've just found MSQC forum more quilt patterns to put on the to do list.

ckcowl 06-19-2016 01:26 AM

Many quilters & shops have community forums, Carol Doak, the Quilt and Needle, Sue Spargo, Jenny Beyer, Holly Taylor, Piece of Cake, .... The list goes on & on. Visit your favorite shops, designers, people who teach techniques you like & check their sites many have links for their forums. None are as ( universal) as this one though. Some are large, some small. Some busy, some sporadic. Some work together on donation projects, mystery quilts and/ or round robins. There's a lot to choose from.

ManiacQuilter2 06-19-2016 04:23 AM

I have seen one on the MSQC website.

I agree. I don't see where checking out forums excludes one from belonging to this one as well. Downside is the time issue. Way too easy to spend a lot of time checking out various social media.

puma 06-19-2016 06:29 AM

quiltingaroundtheworld.com is bar far tops.

I, too, get frustrated by Pinterest and for the same reasons. I figured I was doing something wrong. So many neat looking items have no pattern attached, even when I go to the website shown.

retiredteacher09 06-19-2016 03:35 PM

I forgot about the MSQC forum. :).

I am so very lucky to have found this forum. I have grown as a quilter because of the information on here and I only check out the What's New part so I am probably missing a lot of good information.

I found this site via http://sewing.patternreview.com/Sewi...sions/forum/19, you can have a free membership there.

I get blog feeds from some quilters I really like.

I joined the Handi Quilter forums, but there does not appear to be too much activity there. The Facebook group is more active.

It takes some time to get used to Pinterest, often people are reposting something that is already on the site, other times people are posting fresh links. Not all quilts will show you a pattern, just as not all photos of food will get you to the recipe, but enough do for my liking.

mq resource and apqs forum have lots of interesting topics

There are some bad links, but most of the time, I get to a blog or whatever. Sometimes I can work from the photo anyway, depending upon what I am doing. I love Pinterest....took me a little while to warm up to it, but now I am always finding something to pin.

I love Sewing Pattern Review as well. Mostly because they have users actually review their sewing machines by brand and model. Very useful when researching machines, and you are right, membership is free unless you decide to become a Friend of Sewing Pattern Review.

I'll second that.

Everything new posted here I see it on Facebook quilt groups first. LOL. Facebook quilt groups are full speed night and day. Most have thousands of posters, some are closed groups but welcoming. No matter what quilting style or method you like there is a Facebook group for it. The flash sales from the shops are fantastic.

We're some of the posts on this topic deleted?

based on how much I have to rip when I'm trying something new.... perhaps a Victorianswearshop forum would be a good thing for me to participate in...

jmoore 06-20-2016 04:59 PM

I also follow a few blogs... Bloglovin has some great tutorials and patterns, not just quilting but crochet and knitting as well. I totally agree with slbram17...so many forums to visit but you can get so distracted by the social media outlets...I should be spending more time sewing.

yes.
they were neither appropriate nor helpful/useful.

i tend to prefer forums, rather than blogs, because they are more conveniently organized.
i don't like having to fish through a long line of disjointed posts in order to follow one conversation.
i guess i'm just too much of a geezer to adapt to the blogish way of "talking." lol

i will occasionally stumble across different forums that look interesting but never have time for any but this one. lol

since it's been mentioned a few times, here is the complete link to the MSQC forum:

I might be a little curious to see how Victorian's swear. Thanks for the smile Tartan!

Belfrybat 06-21-2016 04:08 AM

This is my preferred forum, but I also visit Quilting Around the World and MSQC - both of which have already been mentioned. Another one I like is Quilters Club of America. http://www.quiltersclubofamerica.com/forums/ You do not have to join in order to participate in the forum. They just finished a fabulous mystery quilt.

I am thinking that "drat" was probably the most forceful epithet spoken.

bearisgray 06-22-2016 06:29 AM

Not exactly a forum -

but youtube.com has a lot of helpful "how-to" videos for quilters

Quilty-Louise 06-26-2016 11:42 AM

Yesterday I discovered a new (to me) forum.

https://www.quiltinghub.com/Forums

Going to register and see how "friendly" they are.
