With the recent warmer temperatures our snow has begun to melt but it's so deep that the melting snow is rehardened by the snow underneath it so it's a very slippery sheet of ice.
DD and I got home from church yesterday and, of course, with being Pentecostal we were in dresses. I'm also in an ortho boot---very unhandy on ice. Yes, you guessed it, I fell. Luckily I felt my feet start to slip and was able to just go limp so I didn't get hurt other than my dignity. My feet flew into the air and I landed on my back on a small hill of ice packed snow. Now I'm no little woman and with my back being on this hill and a big old heavy boot on one foot I couldn't get up. I was flailing around like a turtle on it's shell. Finally DD came to help me sit up enough that I could turn over and get my feet back under me. On the way to the house I said, "Well, at least my dress stayed down, no one saw Miss Woohoo." DD's mouth dropped open as she turned and gave me this astonished stare. Then she very calmly said, "I did! Mom, when your feet went up so did your dress. Then your feet went down but your dress just sort of floated down." So much for modesty in this neighborhood. The good thing is that I'm just a little stiff and sore but nothing serious. I thought you might all enjoy a laugh. |
Glad you are ok, i have gone airborne a few times this winter, not fun.
One more reason for bringing back bloomers! Seriously, just as well you had the foresight to go limp...could have done a lot of damage. I often grumble about our arid climate, but snow and ice would be just as bad. Glad you are ok and the audience was small.

My drive way is the same and I had a hard time this morning before going to PT. So scared of falling and hurting the new knee. Glad you didn't get hurt too bad.
I don't have a lot of experience with falling but I've always heard that you'll get hurt a lot worse if you tense up and a lot less if you just go with it and let yourself fall. But it would have been nicer if it had happened closer to house instead of out by the street. LOL
This morning before I went to a quilting class I sprinkle salt, took a step, sprinkled salt, took a step, all the way to my car. |
Really glad to hear nothing was hurt more than your dignity!
So sorry that you fell, glad that you didn't injure yourself!
Sorry to hear that you fell. I'm in Wi and we have had some nicer weather for the past couple days and it all just froze last night. Everything was covered in ice.
I'm glad you did'nt get hurt.
Glad you are still in one piece!! :)

an episode of favorite family videoes missed.......no $10,000.00
I'm glad you didn't get hurt. I always tell my sister that I will help her up as soon as I get done laughing. She doesn't find me funny.
Sorry to hear that you fell and showed the neighborhood your woohoo...
I mis-stepped yesterday morning on the ice and ended up turning my ankle. Today, it is all pretty colors and swollen...so, walking very gingerly on it. |
I am laughing but I know it is not funny to fall.
I tripped on a chunk of protruding ice and fell on the smooth ice while walking my dogs tonight. No harm done, I think, but I'll be stiff in the morning. My knees are so arthritic and I have osteoporosis, so I have a fear of falling. That's twice in two weeks.
Sorry to hear about your fall. An ortho boot can't be much fun in this weather. |
We attach those ice cleats to our shoes or boots at this time of year with the same matter-of-factness as putting on a pair of boots when it snows. The only way to deal with icy walkways. I've fallen, too, and it only gets harder over the years.

Falling is no fun... I am glad you were not hurt. I fell last week and Dear Hubby had to call a neighbor to help get me up. My didnity was all that was hurt this time, but~~~ I have had broken arms and legs from falling. And, fat ladies falling are not funny in my book. Take care. God bless.
Hee, hee...sorry you fell--hope all better soon.
Thank you for the good laugh. I have fell twice this
year and the last time was really a nasty one. Thank God you are okay. |
So glad to hear you were unhurt after taking that fall.
So glad you weren't hurt but just think of it this way, everyone needed a good laugh! I'm always tickled if I can make someone laugh either at me or with me! We were in Paducah one year at a quilt show & this really heavy lady was going to try to sit down on the curb. She asked for 2 of my friends help holding her arms so she could sit down gracefully. Before you know it, she was over on her back & her feet straight up in the air & we all laughed so hard we had tears rolling down our faces. HER INCLUDED! Weebles fall down but they don't fall over is what we said all day long!
This icy stuff is melting, but it is so slippery in the process. I am walking like a penguin all the time. I am so ready for NO ICE!
Glad you weren't more seriously hurt. Dignity can heal more quickly than bones and bruises. Take care all. |
LOLLLL. Sorry for your fall though. Miss Woohoo?!

Oh my! I am so glad there was no real harm done. I have done the same thing and it does bruise the ego. Take care.

I have an old pair of pantaloons! They are a hoot! But they do cover a multitude of ???? They are made of a gauzy fabric and like a wrap around skirt in the back with all this fabric. It must have taken a long time to tend to the necessaries. I don't even like buttons, zippers, or snaps when I get the urge! Incontinence is a word I don't want to entertain!

So glad you weren't seriously hurt!

glad to hear your not hurt be safe
Sometimes children do not know to just when to shut up. Glad you're not hurt.
so sorry that is how our snow did also hate that ice
So glad you are all right. I fell on the ice Jan. 19, and hit the back of my head on the edge of the porch. Ended up getting 3 staples in my head, 2 days off work, and a really bad hair day! Be careful, everyone!

That was in the late 70's and I lost a lot of memory and some of the ability to configure designs without a pattern. I really knocked my noodle off balance. I remember thinking the same thing you did where was my skirt and who saw what :?: :?: :?: Woman we are so vain and modest    |
