Our Ears Are Getting Smaller

No, not on each person, but the successive generations. I was watching an episode of Gilligan's Island and looked at Bob Denver's ears. Then I started to think about President Johnson. Wow!

I will have to pay attention, next time I watch an older movie.

Ears grow larger as you age so I guess starting out smaller is good?

Okay, maybe this is the reason DH doesn’t hear a single thing I say when I talk directly to him. Geeesh ! I know he hears me, he doesn’t/won’t process what he hears.

Yep. That's why very old people have large ears. And feet. And noses. And sometimes hands. All keep growing, slowly, as we age, after the rest of us quit growing years ago.

Yes, I had read that many years ago. The only thing is, that about Bob Denver, on Gilligan's Island he was 29-34. That seems fairly young to have the large ears of old age.....

That's called selective hearing. My husband and all of dogs have it

That is called selective hearing. We joke with my mom, she is hard of hearing. We were at the audiologist getting her hearing aides. They were testing what tones etc she had the most trouble hearing. The tone of my dad's voice was one of the tones she had the most trouble with. As he aged we noticed that when he talked to mom he talked in a quieter voice and then would complain when she couldn't hear him. (He had dementia) Now that he has passed away we can laugh about it. He was 89. Mom is now 91 and still going strong.
