I think the difference is restoring vs. just repainting by someone who may or may not know what they are doing. Once it's been repainted, taking the paint off will probably not be an option unless you are going to strip it down to bare metal.

If you have ANY IDEA of ever selling it. Don't paint it! It will ruin the value almost totally.

As a parent of three, one of whom put everything in his mouth, I do not think a resale value of $400.00 outweighs a child's safety. Lead poisoning is not worth the risk.

Why not sell the buggy and use the funds to buy something safe for the next generation?
