The only quilt books I have bought are when the library has a book sale.I check out books then for 15 cents a page I will copy them.. Gadgets I do not buy. And in more than 2 yrs I have only bought 2 1/2 yds of fabric. And that was pink which I never buy so I had no choice. And now I have to get to a real fabric store for baby prints we are awaiting either a niece or nephew coming the beginning of Sept. They are waiting to be surprised.

Whether or not you make the quilt and everyone does their own adjustments to everything, I would go for the pattern. So what if there is a grandma making a bid (you don't know that for sure). Go for it. You may not be a grandma but that doesn't mean you can't make one for a grandma. Just do it. Some people buy things just so others don't get to have it or use it. Then it goes to waste. Just think how many people you could make happy with that pattern.

I have my PAS & GAS pretty much cured. My FAS is under control but will be a lifelong challenge!

It's not normal? I thought everyone did it. At least that's what I tell myself, when I have to buy a new binder to put the printed ones in, or have to make a new disc for the downloads.

Between this great site and free pattern sites I have more patterns then I could make in several hundred years. Does that keep me from downloading more? No! I have every one of the syndromes listed above but have learned to live with them, and yes, enjoy them. Recently started a first applique project, means a whole new set of patterns I just must have.

Count me in! Sorted all the fabric, started going thru all the magazines. OMG love a pattern, copied it and taking those mags to resale shop. Like more than three patterns - keep magazine. So now I have more patterns than ever and my 3 ring binder is overflowing. So really how much did I really clean up?

You guys are no help! I won the pattern on eBay and have gone on to purchase I-don't-want-to-admit-how-many more patterns since then. I may need to stay off eBay altogether.

At least I'm getting to the point where I am considering cutting out patterns from my magazines that I have gone through and flagged only one pattern. Somehow I am seeing shelves of 3-ring binders in my future........

Quilting Book Acquisition Syndrome; Pattern Acquisition Syndrome; Gadget Acquisition Syndrome; Fabric Acquisition Syndrome; Tote Bag Acquisition Syndrome; Works In Progress Syndrome; Dreaming of Quilting Ideas Syndrome; etc.

It's almost 1 August so I am going on the trail to a healthier hobby syndrome: reading each of my quilting books and then determining whether or not to keep individual books. I have something for which I want to save my money so that carrot will be dangled in front of my nose. This should help limit my expenditures. Best of all, spending more quality time each day sewing --- err playing with fabric!

I released some of my fabric in order to work on other materials. I found out today that another sewing sister has done the same thing with flannel, certain prints, and homespun. However, she even cut quilt kits from the fabrics to give to friends and new sewers before before totally releasing the fabric! Now, that is a thoughtful, generous quilting sister...... Bravo!
