Okay, so I went to the Yard Crawl and set up yesterday and did really good even with threat of rain( which started when we started to close up about 2pm. Throughout the day we would get some people in that would say loud enough for everyone in the vicinity to hear that , that fabric is too expensive ($10.00 per 2 yd piece from closing my quilt shop). Well I held it in long enough and I told these two ladies that were trying to put me in my place (they were the rudest) "Then go to WalMart and buy your fabric." Do not get me wrong, I have a nice quilt from 'Wally Word fabric from several years ago. I guess if I was not so tired I would have saaid something else or just let it go. The up side to this is those that quilt got some good buys that day and were calling their quilting/sewing people to let them know I was here. THANKS for letting me vent.

I think ten dollars for two yards is a great price. Some people are just never happy. Sorry they said that.

My neighbor had a yard sale a couple of weeks ago. There was a Lady there, who kept commented really loud about her prices.
So I told this Lady there were a lot more yard sales going on and to get back on her broom and go to them.

Some people just want to "steal" things and aren't happy unless they do. You get all kinds at yard sales - that's what makes them interesting. There are those that will pay whatever the sticker says and those that will try to get $100 items for $1.00. There is no reason for people to be rude, though. We had a lot of model staging items for sale in our last sale and had a couple of women scoffing at the pennies on the dollar prices I had them marked at. I wasn't sad to see them leave - empty handed.

We had a few rude people at our garage sale last month. That's why I can't stand having them. I would rather give items away to those who really like them or need them, then get "talked" down by these jerks. I figure, if they're nasty and get their way, they're only getting positive re-inforcement of their behaviors. Nope, I'll hold on to the item and donate it or give it away, before I sell it cheaper to them!!

That is not unreasonable at all and I would have gladly paid $10 per 2 yards and thought I got a great deal. I'm so sorry they were so rude.

Sounds like it went well overall, Congrats!! No worries on the outspoken, some want something for nothing, and go to YS for super cheap, only go to a few each year, nothing aginst, I could be missing all sorts of good things, but figure, have more than what I need.
Hope get all worked out w/the clearance. :)

These people are out of touch with the real world of fabric. They need to visit some fabric stores. Heck, my own mother thinks fabric over 89 cents a yard is expensive. Sometimes in her mind she still thinks 1955 prices in the 2010 year.

The other day I was in a fabric store where NOTHING was under $10.99 a yard. Beautiful fabric, but I'm having a hard time with that price myself.

So sorry about "the cheapsters". You need to get your costs covered by setting a price that's fair (and that means fair to YOU, too). Some people just don't see it that way, and you're never going to be able to please them, so best to just vent as you did, and then let it go.

It sounds like you were able to move some of your remaining inventory and that's a good thing; I'm happy for you!
