I've used paypal to pay the return postage on a couple of swaps through this board. It's great, all I do is log in, type in how much American dollars I want to send, and it automatically charges my credit card in NZ dollars.

My Paypal is linked to an account that I can transfer money into...make the payment...only a few dollars left there to keep the account open... If someone does ever hack in...I hope they enjoy spending that $5 LMBO If money gets deposited I then transfer it to my other account. Most banks have a checking/savings system that will work like this.

i've gotten some good advice from all of you and now i feel more educated and ready to tackle the real deal. i'll set up the appropriate account (can it be the same account i use to pay from?) and make my move.

thanks all. keep the info coming if anything was missed.

you will pay a tiny fee if the person sending the money has PayPal deduct it from their bank account using their debit card or credit card. i'd rather pay the 30 cents than wait for a check to come in the mail, drive to the bank, and hope it doesn't bounce.

thanks especially patrice. those were the perfect links. i hate navigating paypal. i only use it to pay and it took me forever to learn that. this sound pretty explanatory.

Hi Butterflywing........

I have never paid for or had someone send me $$$ through paypal...
but last December, my husband was checking our credit card account on the internet and noticed that there was a $249.00 amount charged to us by paypal...we contacted our bank and all was taken care of by them........and we were reimbursed immediately.

Couldn't figure how this happened since PP was never used by us.......but all ended well.......and we got our money put back into our account.

This was my one and only occurrence with paypal. good luck...
