Was at Jo-Ann yesterday and saw the most peculiar -- and IMHO -- ridiculous project sheet. It was for an adorable wreath covered with maybe 40-50 spools of embroidery thread and embellished with a cute pin cushion and tape measure bow. I thought, what a great raffle prize that would make! Then I read the instructions. You're supposed to HOT GLUE the thread to the styrofoam base! Can you imagine???? That's one expensive wreath!

Sounds like it would be a waiste of thread to me!

Absolutely, and thread is not cheap. Maybe if you tied it on ...

seamstome 09-16-2011 06:12 AM

YEAH!!! I am not the only one who that WHAT THE HECK! I said to my GF who in their right mind would be 100 bucks worth of premium thread on a wreath like that.

lynnie 09-16-2011 06:20 AM

yeah, they dio it to sell the thread, i'd tie it on, what a great raffel prize that would be

SUZAG 09-16-2011 06:20 AM

Sounds like a great project to boost Joanne's bottom line...LOL

Here is something similar. With this one, the spools are threaded onto the faux branches, and fully removable. Still, blah.

I think I would take a pin or staple gun to hold
items on so they could be used later on.

nativetexan 09-16-2011 06:34 AM

yes, as soon as i started reading your post I thought, expensive!!!

Hen3rietta 09-16-2011 06:51 AM

But someone will make it.....sigh

Save your empty spools, paint the spool part where the thread goes.

It would be a good use of old spools of thread; especially the cheap spools of thread that come with those little sewing kits.

true4uca 09-16-2011 07:47 AM

You could maybe tread the spools onto a pipe cleaner & glue the pipe cleaner to the wreath. I'd use the wreath pictured as a raffel prize.

Blah? I don't think so!

scraphq 09-16-2011 10:01 AM

The wreath would make a very nice gift----for me!

That was my thought! I have tons of old thread I'll never use! I think that wreath is cute for the right person!! I would add things like seam rippers, thimbles etc-all usable and get them when they are 50% off the notions wall!

babyboomerquilter 09-16-2011 10:11 AM

Cute wreath, great idea if the thread was detachable and useable

That's a really good idea. I love the wreath, but embroidery thread would be expensive. All purpose thread might not be so costly.

Sounds like someone forgot to put on their thinking cap!
