I know that people have many, many hobbies. One of mine revolves around renaissance faires and the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronisms). Next weekend, my mother is flying my son & I out to PA to go to the SCA event Pennsic Wars, and I'm curious if there is anyone else on this board who happens to be attending. I would love to meet more of you!

I hope to find a class or two on period quilting- throughout history wholecloth quilting was used to make warmer wearables. I haven't done any true research into it, but if I decide to become a full SCA member, and stay with it, I have a feeling that my Laurel will be in period quilting techniques (even though hand sewing & quilting are not anywhere close to my favorite pastimes...)

Hope to hear that maybe a handful of the members here might possibly be in attendance! :)

cattailsquilts: I have never been to Pennsic but have family and friends that have. Not sure what you will find in classes. But I would love to know when you get back. Since I live not too far, it might be worth going to sometime. *****BUT***** just a word or warning. If someone offers you a glass of honeymead, either pass or drink very little if you are not used to strong alcoholic drinks!

I've heard that Pensic is AWESOME. Make sure to check out the Mongol<?> camp - they have showers. :)

If you get info on quilted stuff, I would love to see it. I have a friend who does the Viking stuff, and he's trying to update his stuff. (of course, he asks me for the sewing stuff).

I'll be camping with Ansteorra, and they have showers of a sort as well. And a love of fire. And a love of hard drink. And a love of food. And a love of mischief-making. So I should have a good time! ;-)

I'll be working for my mom most of the time, so don't even really know what sort of freedom I'll have for classes, but I'm sure that if there is something I'm interested in, she'll make sure I can go.

She's been going for the last 5 or so years, and the last 3 or 4 has been camping with this group. I will finally get to put faces to the names & stories that she keeps telling me!

Oh and re: honeymeade & other drinks, I've been doing faires and other recreationist and roleplaying events for about 13 years now. I'm well aware that the tankard generally isn't water! ;-)

When a friend's site description comes with 'this is a WET site, bring your galoshes', and you know they aren't referring to mud... LOL
