I used to work with a lady who sprayed perfume on like is was body spray and she'd reapply several times a day.
You could always tell when she had been in your area because the smell lingered. She was like Pig Pen from the Charlie Brown comics. Her little cloud of perfume would greet you long before you saw her. So, I don't wear any sort of scent in the work place. YOu just don't know who is allergic and who just doesn't like what you are wearing. |
I spray just a little of Red Door on every morning when I dress. Both my husband and I love the scent.
|
I wore perfume when I worked, now I just wear a little for special occcasions. There are some smells that choke me, like what my MIL wears (or did wear).
A little will go a long ways. |
When my supply is used up I will quit wearing parfum. I can't afford it now that we're retired. My favorite scent is almost $100 a bottle.
|
I have a dear friend who wears patchouli. I come home and my clothes, my skin, and my hair all smell like it - ugh. I love her but HATE that smell.
I like scents that are fresh, clean, and crisp in the summer, or light, soft, flowery, powdery scents for the winter. |
I dont care for perfume... would rather smell/breathe fresh air.

You know when a car passes you driving 50 mph and you can smell their perfume through closed windows, they might have on to much. When you have to wash your clothes after hugging someone, they might have on to much. When you sit next to some one and have to fan to breathe, they might have on to much. So what are your thoughts? You are totally RIGHT...... I always wonder that ,they didn't take a bath and bathed in perfume lol lol lol I wear a very light amt....but always have someone asking what I'm wearing......Clinque..aromatics elixer...... I don't think that everyone can wear the same perfume,either... But passing a car @ 50 mph and know what they are wearing...That cracks me up............LOL LOL LOL |
I love perfume! It makes me feel special and romantic. I wear it alot and I wear it for myself. I don't care if know one else likes it or not. (smokers don't care if they are offensive to others, and that can be one horrable smell). When we go to functions I'm not in the minority.
My husband loves buying it for me as a special gift. |
nope super allergic, so i really hate when people lather it on, it would give me a headache. i stick to misting sprays, they aren't strong like perfume
|
I use very little each day, but I love it and receive compliments on it. Years ago an exDIL worked on Rodeo Drive in a perfume shoppe, where they tossed out the tiny quarter ounce sample spray bottles after new ones came in. She gave me a lot of them and I'm still using them, one spritz a day.
Surprisingly, the most compliments I get from men and little kids is when I am amused enough to rub some vanilla extract on my wrists!!!! |

No, anything scented makes me sick, even when I love the smell. It's frustrating, because I would like to at least wear a lightly scented hand lotion. The one lotion I do use is Davies Gate Quince, but I don't slather it on. And I can manage some raspberry oils, used very lightly.
No scented air fresheners, candles, potpourris, incense, soaps or laundry detergents, either, though I can manage Bounce dryer sheets. |
My parents both suffered from COPD, so I stopped wearing any perfume. Even though I didn't see them every day, I wanted to know that I could .. whatever happened on any given day, I could respond as needed. They are both gone now, and I can't seem to get back into the habit. I also don't like heavy scents and try to teach DS that just because a little is nice, doesn't mean more is better! lol
|
I don't wear it, makes me have headaches and feel nauseated
|
Can't in an allergy office :)..... Never did get in the habit so it never bothers me. Also, agree that some take a bath in their favorite fragrance..... DH works in hospice so he doesn't wear cologne either, not at problem here...
|
I wear it every day. The expensive ones when I go out and body sprays when I am home.

I can only wear clean, crisp, light scents. However Mark Jacobs has one out called Daisy that I do wear and get so many compliments because i wear it sparingly. Jessica McClintock (sp?) is another light one I wear. Anything heavy or musky I cannot stand. I have migraines and have to be particular. Light is the key with me. For me, it is a part of being dressed and feel feminine.

Often I wake up with headaches so on those days I don't wear cologne every other day I do! When my mom was alive she would take a bath every night and put perfume on. One night I asked her why she always put perfume on before bed she replied "you never know who I'm going to meet in my dreams"! She was so cute! I miss her, now when I bathe before bed I put cologne on too!

No scents for me...highly allergic. Many perfumes and fragrances added to lotions, cleaning supplies, etc will cause asthma attacks or rashes. I often must leave church and other places where I must be in close contact to others if there is a perfume or aftershave or hair gel product too near to me.
|
I wore perfume years ago but became allergic , so now I can no longer wear it, I have to buy everything such as, soaps shampoos, hairspray , etc., etc. without fragance. That is a toughy sometimes, had to become a label reader.
|
Yep, Jasmine Noir - a gift from my hubby at the tax free shop. I tried it on and he grabbed the biggest bottle he could find. I wear a little spray everyday... At 65, I'm thrilled he loves to lean in and smell me when he walks by.
However, I do not like people wearing strong perfume in public places... especially on airplanes, which I use a lot. |
I've been wearing the same fragrance for 20+ years! Liz Claiborne is my signature, but only 3 spritzes for the whole day. I work at a prison, so something good smelling is needed & the smell of baking cookies isn't possible!

I have fragrance allergies and can't tell you the number of times I have had to move in a theater or concert because someone sitting near me had so much perfume on that my eyes watered so much I looked like I was crying or I could not breath. And when you get up to move they give you dirty looks like it is your fault.
|
I don't wear it and cannot be near anyone who does. I have had to get up and leave restaurants in the middle of a meal when someone wearing perfume/cologne arrives to sit nearby. I have had to come home from chiropractor appointments to take another shower and wash my clothes because they & I reeked of his cologne.
I've finally broken my husband of using spray deodorizers in the house; they can be especially bad in winter when I have to choose to stay in the house & stop breathing or go outside & freeze. He thinks I'm a drama queen. |
I have never been able to wear any. My eyes water, my nose runa and I start coughing. Not a pretty sight. LOL
|
I can't wear it. IT chokes me. Rather spend the money on my stash!
|
No fragrances for me. Had a co worker that wore so much it would cause me to cough, cough, nose run, eyes red, etc. She could walk through a room and it would still smell for a long time....
Too, as Juliebelle says, as I get older, I'm extremely sensitive to all odors. Can't spend much time in the laundry detergent or soap aisle.....I even use non scented deodorant because even a "fresh" scent is offensive to me... |
I have become allergic to perfume, cologne and strong hand lotions so do not and have not worn any in about 12 years. Saves money, too! I also avoid people who have it on and will not hug at church if I know you wear!

I have gotten out of the routine of wearing any scents at all. I'm a nurse and we are encouraged not to wear anything at all except out deordorant which, if you get close to someone freshly coming in to work in the morning, you occasionally can smell it. I work nights and in the morning when I get on the elevator, OMG, the smell of perfume in the elevators can knock your socks off at times. Geez, if people would only tone it down. I'm sure these are secretaries or office people but even they need to tone it down. I went to an office visit with my niece last week and as soon as we opened the door you could smell this horrible odor of some sort of cheap musk. My nose started running and my eyes got watery. I had to leave the office.

Our department store perfume counter provided tiny glass viles of perfume to wear for store models. They selected the popular scents, and we learned as much about the perfume as we did the garments and accessories we were wearing. The Body chemistry changes the way perfume smells on different people. The fashion coordinator decided I smelled better with baby power. Yeas ago, perhaps in my 20's, I enjoyed the way English Leather smelled on me. Didn't smell anything like it did in the bottle. I've learned to just avoid soaps, shampoos and add on scents. I too have developed sensitivity to the aromas worn by other people.
|
I am very allergic to almost any kind of smell: laundry detergents, dryer sheets, perfume, flowers, lotions, hair spray, etc.
To be caught in an elevator, movie theater, large store, my house (please don't come here wearing ANY smell) will make my face swell and start a migraine! |
Never wear it. I'm one of the growing number of people who get sick when even getting a whiff of perfume. So for that reason I avoid the company of people who wear it or refuse not to wear it if they know they will be around me.
