This is what happens when 100mph winds tear shingles off roof tops.
I may wind up having to sell some of my fabric's to pay for this. :-( .
I am very thankful that we are all ok.
Thank you for all the PM's checking on us.

Hope the insurance pays for it.

moonwork42029 04-26-2011 04:38 PM

major bummer!

We got pea/marble size hail right now

GreatStarter 04-26-2011 04:39 PM

You poor thing. I hate these storms too. We are under another severe storm watch for next two hours. A severe storm just went through but missed us by a few miles (by few I mean 2 miles)
Stay safe.
Kat

It won't pay for. we don't have full coverage because we can't afford it. We pay for 3 vehicles.

You be careful over there.

Here is the super cell that came thru here this afternoon. This is the back side of it. can you see the apartments in the back ground where all the shingles were torn off the roofs?

Oh my Carrie..how awful...I am glad that you are all ok.

cjomomma 04-26-2011 04:51 PM

Our weather radio has been going off every 5 minutes this evening.

Kooklabell 04-26-2011 04:58 PM

Lordy, car's and windows can be fixed. You, hubby and little one stay safe inside. Maybe in the bathtub! The weather is nuts this year!

happyscrappy 04-26-2011 04:59 PM

oh my goodness, such devastation is a real eye-opener. i am glad you and yours were not harmed. we are blessed.

0tis 04-26-2011 05:05 PM

OMG - that is awful - You can claim losses on your income tax - but there are alot of rules that go along with it. Boy, that is just so terrible - at least no one was hurt.

DogHouseMom 04-26-2011 05:05 PM

Glad to hear your OK though! When I heard Murray KY on the radio today I remembered one of our members lived there, but couldn't remember which one.

purplemem 04-26-2011 05:10 PM

Carrie,
That is awful. I'm grateful you weren't driving when it hit.

The storm came thru at midnight. When it hit it I thought the apartment was gonna explode.

GGinMcKinney 04-26-2011 05:14 PM

Thankful you & family are safe. So sorry for all the damage the storm caused. Praying for safety & no property damage for all.
Scary to say the least.

cat65321 04-26-2011 05:14 PM

Glad you are ok. I'm sorry about your van. I use to drive a Windstar just like yours. It was a good van and I miss driving it. Hope you get yours fixed real soon!

Sadiemae 04-26-2011 05:22 PM

So sorry...
Who owns the building where the shingles came from? Could their homeownders insurance cover your damage? I have no idea, I just wonder...

jillnjo 04-26-2011 05:23 PM

So sorry about all the damage and concern about your area weather!!So far we have escaped any bad storms this spring, but it's always raining and tonight we have a tornado watch until midnight.Take care all of you in the storm areas.I carry my weather alert upstairs to bed with me so I can listen and shut it off.It can drive me crazy when it goes off every little bit,but one night we just shut it off and there was a terrible tornado just a short distance away and that taught me a lesson,DON'T shut it off!

We checked with our insurance company and they said that if it had been a tree then the owner of our complex would have been liable.

CoyoteQuilts 04-26-2011 05:27 PM

Didn't read far enough.... Sorry to hear about your damage. It's not fun....

We can't prove where the shingles came from. Plus we already checked.

NCquilter 04-26-2011 05:30 PM

OMG! I'm glad you and your family are ok. Hopefully insurance will cover the costs.

2000HD 04-26-2011 05:32 PM

That is a lot of damage to one vechile - glad to hear you and your family are okay. There has been so many storms. We may have some here tonight in NC.

MaryAnna 04-26-2011 05:37 PM

Oh My! I'm so glad you and your family are alright! You can replace 'things', but not people! God will make a way, He is good.
Blessings,
MaryAnna

linda701 04-26-2011 05:39 PM

Hope everyones okay and those storms stop soon.

GagaSmith 04-26-2011 05:55 PM

Sorry for your misfortune. I'm just glad you and your family are okay> The weather has been crazy everywhere it seems.

dakotamaid 04-26-2011 06:11 PM

Oh Carrie, you are in my thoughts ((((((hugs))))). Just glad it was the car and not you and yours.

MZStitch 04-26-2011 06:11 PM

I feel your pain! We had a major hail storm here a couple weeks back. My van has $1800 damage, our truck $2200 and we have a third car we didn't put a claim in for because its old. Still we have to come up with the $250 deductible for each vehicle. I'd much rather spend $500 at my local quilt shop!

ncsewer 04-26-2011 06:36 PM

Thank goodness the people are OK. As hard as it is to pay for the repairs we're all thankful you are all unharmed.

Thank you! We are all very thankful. Honestly I had to laugh at it especially after the week we have had. Tomorrow is suppose to be our last day for storms for a couple of days. Fingers, eyes, legs and toes crossed!! :-)

cheryl rearick 04-26-2011 06:57 PM

You can have full coverage but it does not always cover what is considered an "Act of God" Floods storms and such... Don't you have to take out extra for that? Carrie, I am so very very sorry this has happened to you... Praise the Lord your all safe. I wonder IF IF IF any shingles are in the car and if the Apt. has coverage???? worth a try.

I do not miss living in the south... I don't listen to the radio or really watch TV, so I had no way of knowing these storms have been so bad. A gal here or there lets me know about her area. (((hugs)))

QuiltingGrannie 04-26-2011 07:08 PM

Just saw some pics on the news and on the web of the damage to your town. So glad you are o.k.
I also hear more storms are headed your way (and our way too).

Stay dry and safe. Will be praying for you and all those affected.

Dollysquiltingmom 04-26-2011 07:08 PM

Oh Carrie so sorry about your van, just very happy you guys are ok. Still sending prayers your way.

sharoney 04-26-2011 07:09 PM

Yikes!

kraftykimberly 04-26-2011 08:12 PM

Glad everyone is safe and sound, so sorry about your van though :-(

irishrose 04-26-2011 09:03 PM

Oh, Carrie, I'm so sorry. That gives new meaning to the phrase 'When it rains, it pours.' I came home from an out of town app't today in heavy, heavy rains with tornado warnings, but no harm done. My oldest daughter called me several times, but I don't answer the phone while I'm driving, especially under those conditions. Glad you and your family are okay.

Qbee 04-26-2011 09:30 PM

OMGosh Carrie!! I wondered about you. I got on here to PM you earlier because I wasn't able to reach my DS there at Murray University and only knew the school was closed. I finally reached him and they are safe in the dorms using generators for electricity. I am SO sorry your van was so damaged. I don't think he has even checked his car but I don't care at this point as long as he's safe.
