Thanks for the link. I'll go check it out. I should clarify that our month on the road includes spending a week in OH with my inlaws and a week in TX w my mom. Thanks for all your suggestions.

you will see more on the "blue highways". Also, what time frame? Anyway in Col. Springs, be sure to see Star Kempf's sculptures -- http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/17288 I hope they are still there. BTW, Roadside America is a GREAT site!! |
If you're taking US50, the loneliest road, which is a beautiful drive, make sure you plan to stop awhile in Austin Nevada at the several turquoise shops there. The local white turquoise that is native to Austin is some of the rarest in the world, and not mined anymore. Beside that, it's a really interesting little town full of "characters."
I-70 through Utah and Colorado is an awesome ride too. |
I was just visiting DD in Denver and saw Garden of the Gods. Amazing sandstone. I think it is near Colorado Springs. Connie can set me right.

I am from Kokomo, Indiana originally (50 miles north of Indianapolis - "Indy). If you are going through that area, check out the Indy 500 racetrack. Sounds boreing, but you can take a bus around the track. You can fit 8 Rose Bowl Stadiums in the infield. It is HUGE. There is also a golf course in the infield. The museum of antique racing cars is interesting as well..even to a "girl" :)
http://indianapolis-indiana.funcityf...otor-speedway/ Racetrack is on the west side of town off 38th street in the town of Speedway. A must see. |
