Do ya'll do anything special with them? I have about 8 of them saved and I was thinking if I can get the coffee smell out I might make them into cookie tins for Christmas presents.
Would love some ideas!
Thanks

I saved them to use when painting some rooms. We use them to scoop birdseed, dry pet food, cat litter, which I store in big bins in the garage. Little kids like to play fill them with water and dump them out. Great sand buckets.

And if you can't get the smell out, just make mocha cookies.

Maybe try Beverly's peroxide.

I'd recommend a tablespoon of vinegar for every cup of hot water you put in to fill it up. Let it soak for half an hour, then wash.

Folger's actually had some "printables" that were free to use to make them into cookie containers for gifts. I think Sondray posted it in the links and resources area awhile back. They were really cute. I wash mine out with smell iliminating dish soap. I think dawn or palmolive makes it. Can't remember off the top of my head. Or you can use some lemon juice, your regular dish soap and warm water. That kills the odor too.

Wash them well and then soak a paper towel with vanilla and rub the insides and close the lids for a couple of days. This works well with coolers too, I leave the paper towels in them for the whole winter and they smell fresh when opened in the spring.

I keep saving mine - those projects sound fun! - but DH takes them all for his own uses!

I was thinking the other day that one would be a nice size for dying fabric. Of course, once you use it for dye, no food in it!
