Now that doctors are saying hot flashes are good for women our age I can't complain about them....well...maybe just a little bit....

OK, now tell me why hot flashes are good for us?? :!: I have skipped two periods in a row and am hoping to become the first woman in history to do menopause by quitting cold turkey. My doc is always asking me about it as I am in "peri-menopause"

and I would love to be able to tell her, Yep, I just quit having periods. It's all over now.

Just to let you know. I went through menopause cold turkey, nary a pill, shot, or anything. I didn't have bad night sweats, except that I can't wear a nightgown anymore. Have to wear pajamas (can cut them to below the knees). I told my neighbor to watch and see if I have any personality change and I didn't (thank God for that). I went nine months without a period, and got it, so I had to start all over again. But the next year I was done. I guess my youth just wanted to hang on for one more year and then could fall apart!!!! That was 20 years ago. Time goes fast when you're having fun, I always say! However, I did do the plucking at a place where it wasn't electrolysis, but they did kill the roots. I still have some on my chin, but I have those little buggers under my chin. They are driving me up the wall. They are blond and soft and I can't stand them. Also, I was told that you shouldn't pluck - cut with a cuticle scissors or even an embroidery scissors work. Then they don't grow in like an oak tree! Did you also notice that the hair on your legs stopped growing also? Go figure! I would so much rather shave or cut my legs than my face! Underarms also. You know, it has been said that men look so distinguished when they get older. It's true. Sometimes I look at my husband and just swoon and then I look in the mirror and all I see is a prune!

For me, menopause started with the first chemo. I felt it a blessing not to have to deal with the monthly stuff. I also couldn't tell the symptoms from the side effects.:) My oncologist would have had a fit but I actually took a razer to my face because there was sooo much hair. Luckily it mostly disappeared after. There are still always a couple to annoy me though. I asked for a really good pair of tweezers for Christmas and my daughter gave me Tweezerman. Oh Yeah!

LOL..Just keep plucking..Should be thankful that is all that changed.

Dr. Oz shaves, I assume, so he doesn't have to worry about those sneaky thin long shade seeking hairs on his chin that left alone will strangle you some dark night.

Typical....but insurance pays for Viagra.

If your insurance pays for Viagra that is some good insurance! Anthem BCBS does NOT.

I have a 'Tweezie', a little hand held device that you just run over your face. When it comes to one of those chunky chin hairs, it sounds like it hits a tree stump. It pulls that sucker out and you are good to go for about a week. I call them 'Witch Hairs", like you can go to bed and nothing there, next morning it is 2" long. Go figure. Eyebrows are lighter, not much hair on legs and underarms. Ahhh the joys of growing older, but Im still greatful for every new day. It's a gift to us from God.

I am 7 years younger than my sister-------------I shave------ - - Hair is growing on my chin, my neck, around my boobs, BUT - on the good side, I no longer have hair in my armpits, leg hair is almost all gone and I am losing hair on the top of my head. What the heck is going on??? My sister does NOT have those problems. $#@!

For chin hair you can always do what Rosie O'Donnel did on her show. She beaded the chin hair so it was at least attractive, put the tiny beads like they do in the Islands.
