Woke up to a really cool-looking sunrise. I will post pictures when I get home tonight. Also woke up to thunder & a spot of rain. :)

Tried knitting on 4 needles last night. Learned I should probably start learning with larger needles & yarn instead of size 3 needles & sock-weight yarn. (oh, darn - a trip to the craft store is in order...)

May in Jersey 08-25-2011 05:36 AM

Really nice day here in Jersey, what I call perfect summer weather no humidity and a great day to be outdoors. I won't be at the beach or in my garden but will be shopping for all new bathroom towels and accessories - picking out new stuff is always a good day for me.

Kehoeta 08-25-2011 05:39 AM

wonderfully cool here in Michigan today. We got our thunderboomers and rain last night. The humidity is gone this morning and my hair is back to normal. :)

ptquilts 08-25-2011 06:12 AM

2 GS came to visit on Sunday, they all live in ENgland so it was a real treat. They are 3 and 5, and we had a BLAST!!

sguillot 08-25-2011 06:14 AM

WOW, is it still in the 100's here in South Texas. Sure need rain and cooler weather and I am so thankful that I work inside.

flowerjoy 08-25-2011 06:38 AM

We're getting some of the outer bands of Hurricane Irene... hope everyone is preparing on the east coast (USA)... best of luck and hope it starts wearing out a bit.

patricej 08-25-2011 06:38 AM

we are having a cold snap.

it's "only" 85, with a "feels like" of "only" 94.

Going to exercise in a minute. My whole body is feeling really great today, so it's more like a treat than a chore!

Had an awesome omelet for breakfast today. SO yummy.

sguillot 08-25-2011 08:06 AM

Glad your body is feeling really great. My body is having one the really bad days. Think it might be my Arthur yelling at me.

Thought wednesday was going to be a bit down as my kids are all away atm and just me and my 91 yr old mum, .....But friend popped in to ask me to sign a legal doc and to say thanks took me to a local place where they had a ' bring your own instrument 'music evening, it was SOOO much fun to sing along to the songs and remember the tunes we sang as kids, Best evening I've had in a while.

Cheri_J 08-25-2011 10:14 AM

I will have some "alone" time this evening - which doesn't happen very often. Yeah!

sguillot 08-25-2011 11:57 AM

Good for you. Just do whatever you fell inspired to do. My husband passed away 3 years ago and I didn't know what to do with myself then I got 2 dogs, they are so spoiled that I don't get much done at night. I work during the day and they want my attentions when I get home. Have fun with your free time. I know you will use it wisely.

luvTooQuilt 08-25-2011 11:59 AM

Had a nice nap, the sun is shining, roof over our heads, food in our bellies and a house full of love...

sguillot 08-25-2011 12:01 PM

You are one lucky person. We should all be very thankful to be able to have those things.

Went for a grocery run - found organic eggs at 75 cents a dozen (SCORED!) Now I have an extra set for a get-together tonight (can we say "deviled eggs, nom, nom, nom"?)

Panchita 08-27-2011 09:19 AM

Had a nice lie-in this morning, bought some beautiful fabric online, and have managed to spend most of the day working on a crib quilt intended for a friend's baby (baby arrived last week - oops - tho at least I'll know what name to put on the label!).

Happy day!!

Panchita

As promised - my sunrise picture

Gramof6 08-27-2011 06:45 PM

Beautiful pic! Thanks for sharing. I got up feeling great today. Unusual for me. LOL SO I dressed and went to the LQS and visited with so many nice ladies while looking at all of the new books and holiday fabrics. Came home & DD called to tell me she would be picking me up for a manicure. Her treat. Did that & returned to home then had a wonderful phone conversation with my Mom. Youngest DS & his fiance called & they will be out tomorrow after Church and taking me to lunch. It has really been a great day. Even with temps being 104. Life is good.

redkimba 08-30-2011 05:59 AM

Excited about the upcoming weather - temps to be below 100 degrees and a serious chance of rain. :)

Also - I started knitting a diaper soaker. It's turning out nicely. Hopefully I will be done with that this week.

Rebecca VLQ 08-30-2011 12:59 PM

My happy for today:

Started "working" today and as I went through my stash, I was able to pull exactly what I needed since I organized my stash last February, and it's still pretty much in shape.

AND I pulled fabric that I just bought for a rainy day, and I'm feeling excited about the final outcome. Accidental brilliance I think!

sguillot 08-30-2011 01:02 PM

I am also excited about the hot weather finally breaking here in South Texas. We have had temps over 100 far to long. There is also a possiblity of rain but heard last night that it may miss us. BUMMER I hope everyone has a safe Labor Day. I hope to get some sewing done.

Love to 'revive' old skills. Took a 19th Cent shoe-making class recently. I have to let my fingers heal before I finish just this one shoe, but I really want to finish the set so I can make some fancy ones:

gramquilter2 09-27-2011 06:04 AM

I am going to work on trying zentangles using thread and silk fabric! I believe it will be as awesome as using pen and paper. Have a wonderful day.

How cool is that, I never knew there were shoe-making classes.

Just had a co-worker tell me that my new nickname is "Skinny Mimi" since I've lost so much weight. :)

kaykwilts 09-28-2011 03:30 AM

Armadillo's can do so much damage to a hard-worked, well-tended garden. Heard my neighbor out shooting one early this morning. I am thankful for such a diligent neighbor. Now we can both heave a sigh of relief....at least til the dillo's cousin shows up!!!

Mad Mimm 10-01-2011 06:31 PM

My positive today is that I got the opportunity to really focus on being grateful for what I have. And I took that opportunity and made the most of it. Happy home, healthy family - we are good.
