We have one of those vacuum sealer things and it really keeps food fresh. So we repackage down to 2 serving when we get a really good deal and that keeps it good till we use it. |
I work in an inner-city neighborhood where prices, for some odd reason, tend to be higher than better neighborhoods. The exception to this seems to be ground meat. I've been getting it for under $2 a pound. I use it to supplement my dogs' diets, like Irishrose does. they get 50/50 kibble and beef (and the small dog weighs 85 pounds). We go through about a pound a day. There are also times I've paid 2.89 a pound and thought that wasn't too bad.

I'm in Oregon and paid $4.99 for ground beef.

The expense to plant corn has skyrocketed the past few years, we as small farmers could not even afford to plant it. We will plant corn this year for the first time in about 4 years and only to give the soil a break . (Soil likes and needs rotation) |
80/20 is 4.69 in South Carolina.

with the price of crude oil going up, we will be paying more for everything!

I really don't know the cost here in Florida. Since my DH had one kidney removed, his urologist told him no red meat. I haven't eaten it in years. I sure did used to like a good steak though.

I haven't bought meat in the grocery store in so long, I have no idea how much it costs. We eat mostly wild game we hunt ourselves and veggies we grow ourselves. I think the last grocery ad said ground sirloin was on sale for $3.39
