I'm soooo proud of my son right now I could explode!!! He went to the State Track and Field meets on Saturday and competed in 3 events and competed against 24 schools. Pole vault 11' (came in 6th), 4x1 relay (came in 6th), and the 4x4 relay (came in 3rd). The 4x4 qualified him for the MOC (Meet of Champions) this coming up Saturday.

Isn't this the most awesome way to end high school!!! He graduates on the 12th   (never ever thought of him getting this old)

Then off to Norwich University and the ROTC Program for engineering.

My one and only!! Going to miss him dearly!!!

Congratulations!!! Your son will have great memories of his graduating year.

LeslieSkelly 05-31-2010 03:54 AM

Congratulations to your son! Best wishes on his future endeavors.

I graduated my youngest daughter Friday night and she will be off to college in the fall. It will certainly be different around here with her gone (She is my rowdy, fun-loving child).

The empty-nest thing!!! Glad I have a lot of projects lined up!!!

Congratulations to your son!

Congrats!!! You're so right--what a great ending to this chapter!! He sounds like a super athlete!! How about some pictures??? :-D

Empty nest isn't too bad--we bought kayaks and stayed busy. Although three years apart in school, both my kids left for college the same weekend! One attended the community college first, while the other graduated from HS a year early--it was crazy to have them leaving home the same weekend.

There are hard moments...my daughter and I are very close and I miss her friendship, but overall the quiet and privacy and clean house and less wash and dishes is pretty sweet. :-D And I communicate with my kids almost daily. My son came home from college every weekend so didn't have to miss him, :-D and my daughter emails often. If I don't hear from her for 2-3 days, it's because she's happy and busy.

You'll work it out.... be excited for him and there'll be less room for sadness.

AW, Hugs! Congrats though, he sounds like a great kid!

Congrats on a job well done, both son and mother. We did it! I remember when our son was in track. I loved to go to the meets. I remember the one time he came in second in the Junior Olympics, 1978 - he was in the 8th grade. Then he went on to high school - no more track - the wrestling bug got him, so he wrestled varsity for four years. Went on to the University of Minnesota and graduated in 1984. Time goes so fast. I can still see him jumping the hurdles - he flew! And now he has a little farm, a full time job, 7 goats, 1 donkey, a slew of chickens, five cats (three being "Farm Cats"), three dogs, three kids and a wonderful wife. Our children --- they are the lights of our life, aren't they? Edie

What a great job he did, and then off to college, what an exciting time in his life, and yours!

Congradutations on his great showing, and good luck on his next meet.

I would love to post some pictures of him, but I had a disk full of wresting pictures, awards, etc. and prom and somehow it corrupted and I lost everything!!!   I'm absolutely scared to death to remove that disk and take the chance of losing everything again. Have to wait for him to come home this evening and copy and transfer some videos for the Athletic Director for the sports ceremony. Then maybe I'll get the nerve once everything is loaded on here.

I think this is the reason I haven't been actually do any quilting lately only figuring out what I wanted to do, buying the fabric and just getting everything together in its separate bins ready and raring to go. I know once its over I'm going to really have to keep myself busy. Being in this program the 1st 6wks he's only allowed to call home for 5min. on Sunday. Its either I'm going to lose my mind or become the biggest stalker the schools ever seen.

Can you try an picture this wide load hiding in the bushes with her binoculars trying to get a glimpse of him!! OMG!!!  I really hope that this summer just plain draggggggs on!

sewcrafty 05-31-2010 09:19 AM

Boy oh boy, you got that right!!! I still can picture him putting his dirty little hands all over the front of the clean dishwasher at about 1 1/2yrs old. Where in the HELL did time go?

I guess I'm just a sap.

littlehud 05-31-2010 09:53 AM

QuiltingGrannie 05-31-2010 09:58 AM

Congrats to your son and to you for a job well done.

Like Edie said- they will always be our babies. Mine has a daughter of his own now, but he (and his older sister too) will always be my 'babies'.

In a few more years, yes they will get it :-)

We just went through almost the same thing when our oldest joined the Army. He is still in training (out of basic though), and sometimes he is in the field for 1 - 4 weeks at a time.
Our middle son, works 12 - 14 hours shifts, then eats and heads to bed after calling his wife and daughters. He is stationed Iraq, so we do not get to talk to him often.

craftybear 05-31-2010 08:58 PM

Wow, Congratulations!

Leota 05-31-2010 09:03 PM

congratulations! yes you are right to be proud... He did well in his field and track competitions and you will continue to be proud of him as he develops into the your young man you taught him to be.
