The upstairs bathroom pipe broke and flooded - of all places - my beloved SEWING ROOM :(

Well, it was long overdue for a good cleaning/reorganizing....DH says I can have a "Flood Sale"

OH no. My plumber is here right now but my pipes burst in the kitchen and outside. My sewing room has no pipes in it, so lucky. Hope you get it all to a safe place. Sorry it happened, now you have an excuse to re-organize. Have fun.

Call your insurance company to see if anything is covered.

Stitchnripper 02-06-2011 08:04 AM

Oh my, so sorry to hear! What a mess! Good luck with it.

CarrieAnne 02-06-2011 08:05 AM

Hugs! How sad!

hannajo 02-06-2011 08:21 AM

Oh no! I hope it didn't damage too much of your sewing stuff.

Wine Woman 02-06-2011 08:29 AM

Oh no, Laurie how bad is the damage? Your fabric and machines, ohhhh all your sewing things-did they survive? I'm so sorry that happened.

featherweight 02-06-2011 08:33 AM

Oh what a mess. I feel for you.

moonwork42029 02-06-2011 08:54 AM

I'd say it's time for chocolate and wine...maybe not even in that order.

Hope nothing was damaged too badly and you have help cleaning it up.

Sorry for such a mess to have to clean up.

maryb119 02-06-2011 08:57 AM

I hope you can save most of the things in your sewing room. Fabric can be washed and dried. I hope your machine is OK.

quiltingnonie 02-06-2011 09:32 AM

Fortunately, I was in the sewing room when it happened, so frantically started grabbing stuff...it was a lot of fabric and quilting magazines that suffered the damage. My sewing room used to be a small beauty salon and has water pipes in there. My worry now is that the plumber will have to open up that wall :( (And that I will have to spend my tax refund to pay them, when I had MUCH better plans for it!!)
Will contact insurance company tomorrow.

Take lots of pictures...it helps to let insurance know just how much there was....make sure that you note how much the cover price is of the quilt magazines...you won't get the whole thing so at least this helps to cover the deductable. Also how many garbage bags of stuff too bad to save. Write it down, before you put it into the bag.

KarenK 02-06-2011 03:34 PM

Lots of (((HUGS))) coming your way.

Moon Holiday 02-06-2011 03:38 PM

I'm heartbroken for you. I have experienced bursting pipes, which is awful enough.... but never near my sewing room! I hope your sewing machines aren't ruined... while wet fabric can be a pain... at least it can be dried... but still... I'm so sorry to hear about it!

sueisallaboutquilts 02-06-2011 09:13 PM

Oh no! Sorry for you, hon!

Kas 02-06-2011 09:36 PM

It might be better to fix it without calling the insurance company at all. Sometimes they mark you as having had water damage even if you don't file a claim.
