75% of Queensland is a disaster area. The Brisbane river has broken it's banks and the Brisbane central business district is expecting to be flooded. The airport is closed.Worse than the 1974 floods.A number of people have dies and about 60 are missing.

Absolutely tragic ....... it's being called the Inland Tsunami ... my heart goes out to all the people caught up this dreadful disaster that is still not over!

I am watching this on TV in Sydney. I have contacted friends in West End just on the river in Brisbane. They are on the ground floor of a block of apartments. They have a disabled son.
They have kindly been given use of an apartment on a higher level. For them the highest level will be on Thursday. Australia is certainly a country of extremes. Our prayers go to all affected by this disaster. Colleen |
Just seen the special news cast in Adelaide. What a disaster and the rain is still pouring down. Brisbane has already had flash floods but are expecting that wall of water from Toowooba to arrive tomorrow. Hope all our QB members are safe. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all and our money has gone to the Premiers flood relief fund. SA is expecting rain in the next day or two and some of this water may cause flooding of the Murray River system.

Please stay safe everyone, we are thinking of you.

This reminds me of hurricane Katrina....Mother nature can be brutal! You are all in my prayers.....

At least it at stopped raining this morning, and we have some sun shining, rivers are still rising and causing havoc.
40,000 properties to be affected. 10 dead and 90 missing, breaks your heart, mother nature sure is cruel! |
Gday, I have been away in the Sunny and Hot state of Western Australia who need all this rain. Why can't we just put a pipe across the country and disperse evenly if mother nature won't do it. The weather has now hit in Victoria and there are floods and damage rampaging the state here. It is so unbelievable at what is happening for the start of 2011. Stay safe and lets hope that the donations keep on coming in. As they will need it. My thoughts are with you all.
